Affected: TODDR YAML::Syck

YAML::Syck versions before 1.36 for Perl has missing null-terminators which causes out-of-bounds read and potential information disclosure

Missing null terminators in token.c leads to but-of-bounds read which allows adjacent variable to be read

The issue is seen with complex YAML files with a hash of all keys and empty values. There is no indication that the issue leads to accessing memory outside that allocated to the module.

USN-7844-1 — libyaml-syck-perl vulnerability

Affected: Ubuntu:Pro:16.04:LTS: libyaml-syck-perl, Ubuntu:Pro:18.04:LTS: libyaml-syck-perl, Ubuntu:Pro:20.04:LTS: libyaml-syck-perl, Ubuntu:Pro:22.04:LTS: libyaml-syck-perl, Ubuntu:Pro:24.04:LTS: libyaml-syck-perl, Ubuntu:25.10: libyaml-syck-perl

It was discovered that YAML::Syck did not properly handle parsing YAML
files. An attacker could possibly use this issue to expose sensitive
information.
