CVE-2025-6141 — GNU ncurses parse_entry.c postprocess_termcap stack-based overflow

Affected: GNU ncurses, Siemens RUGGEDCOM RST2428P, Siemens SCALANCE XC-300/XR-300/XC-400/XR-500WG/XR-500 family, Siemens SCALANCE XCH328, Siemens SCALANCE XCM324, Siemens SCALANCE XCM328, Siemens SCALANCE XCM332, Siemens SCALANCE XRH334 (24 V DC, 8xFO, CC), Siemens SCALANCE XRM334 (230 V AC, 12xFO), Siemens SCALANCE XRM334 (230 V AC, 8xFO) and 7 more

A vulnerability has been found in GNU ncurses up to 6.5-20250322 and classified as problematic. This vulnerability affects the function postprocess_termcap of the file tinfo/parse_entry.c. The manipulation leads to stack-based buffer overflow. The attack needs to be approached locally. Upgrading to version 6.5-20250329 is able to address this issue. It is recommended to upgrade the affected component.

USN-8709-1 — ncurses vulnerability

Affected: Ubuntu:Pro:14.04:LTS: ncurses, Ubuntu:Pro:16.04:LTS: ncurses, Ubuntu:Pro:18.04:LTS: ncurses, Ubuntu:Pro:20.04:LTS: ncurses, Ubuntu:22.04:LTS: ncurses, Ubuntu:24.04:LTS: ncurses

It was discovered that ncurses incorrectly handled specially crafted
terminfo database entries. A local attacker could possibly use this issue
to cause applications using ncurses to crash, resulting in a denial of
service.
