Details

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:

net/mlx5: E-Switch, Fix an Oops in error handling code

The error handling dereferences "vport". There is nothing we can do if it is an error pointer except returning the error code.

Details

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:

RDMA/mlx5: Move events notifier registration to be after device registration

Move pkey change work initialization and cleanup from device resources stage to notifier stage, since this is the stage which handles this work events.

Fix a race between the device deregistration and pkey change work by moving MLX5_IB_STAGE_DEVICE_NOTIFIER to be after MLX5_IB_STAGE_IB_REG in order to ensure that the notifier is deregistered before the device during cleanup. Which ensures there are no works that are being executed after the device has already unregistered which can cause the panic below.

Details

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:

apparmor: fix invalid deref of rawdata when export_binary is unset

If the export_binary parameter is disabled on runtime, profiles that were loaded before that will still have their rawdata stored in apparmorfs, with a symbolic link to the rawdata on the policy directory. When one of those profiles are replaced, the rawdata is set to NULL, but when trying to resolve the symbolic links to rawdata for that profile, it will try to dereference profile->rawdata->name when profile->rawdata is now NULL causing an oops. Fix it by checking if rawdata is set.

Vulnerability from github – Published: 2024-09-18 09:30 – Updated: 2025-11-04 00:31
VLAI
Details

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:

drm/amd/display: Skip wbscl_set_scaler_filter if filter is null

Callers can pass null in filter (i.e. from returned from the function wbscl_get_filter_coeffs_16p) and a null check is added to ensure that is not the case.

This fixes 4 NULL_RETURNS issues reported by Coverity.

Vulnerability from github – Published: 2024-05-21 15:31 – Updated: 2025-02-03 18:30

Details

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:

net: bridge: fix vlan tunnel dst null pointer dereference

This patch fixes a tunnel_dst null pointer dereference due to lockless access in the tunnel egress path. When deleting a vlan tunnel the tunnel_dst pointer is set to NULL without waiting a grace period (i.e. while it's still usable) and packets egressing are dereferencing it without checking. Use READ/WRITE_ONCE to annotate the lockless use of tunnel_id, use RCU for accessing tunnel_dst and make sure it is read only once and checked in the egress path. The dst is already properly RCU protected so we don't need to do anything fancy than to make sure tunnel_id and tunnel_dst are read only once and checked in the egress path.

VLAI
Details

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:

mmc: moxart: fix return value check of mmc_add_host()

mmc_add_host() may return error, if we ignore its return value, the memory that allocated in mmc_alloc_host() will be leaked and it will lead a kernel crash because of deleting not added device in the remove path.

So fix this by checking the return value and goto error path which will call mmc_free_host().

Vulnerability from github – Published: 2022-05-13 01:28 – Updated: 2025-04-12 13:02
VLAI
Details

The validate_as_request function in kdc_util.c in the Key Distribution Center (KDC) in MIT Kerberos 5 (aka krb5) before 1.13.6 and 1.4.x before 1.14.3, when restrict_anonymous_to_tgt is enabled, uses an incorrect client data structure, which allows remote authenticated users to cause a denial of service (NULL pointer dereference and daemon crash) via an S4U2Self request.

Mitigation MIT-56
Implementation

For any pointers that could have been modified or provided from a function that can return NULL, check the pointer for NULL before use. When working with a multithreaded or otherwise asynchronous environment, ensure that proper locking APIs are used to lock before the check, and unlock when it has finished [REF-1484].

Mitigation
Requirements

Select a programming language that is not susceptible to these issues.

Mitigation
Implementation

Check the results of all functions that return a value and verify that the value is non-null before acting upon it.

Mitigation
Architecture and Design

Identify all variables and data stores that receive information from external sources, and apply input validation to make sure that they are only initialized to expected values.

Mitigation
Implementation

Explicitly initialize all variables and other data stores, either during declaration or just before the first usage.

No CAPEC attack patterns related to this CWE.
