CWE-918

Server-Side Request Forgery (SSRF)

The web server receives a URL or similar request from an upstream component and retrieves the contents of this URL, but it does not sufficiently ensure that the request is being sent to the expected destination.

Title
WeKnora: DNS Rebinding Vulnerability in web_fetch Tool Allows SSRF to Internal Resources
Summary
WeKnora is an LLM-powered framework designed for deep document understanding and semantic retrieval. Prior to version 0.3.0, a DNS rebinding vulnerability in the web_fetch tool allows an unauthenticated attacker to bypass URL validation and access internal resources on the server, including private IP addresses (e.g., 127.0.0.1, 192.168.x.x). By crafting a malicious domain that resolves to a public IP during validation and subsequently resolves to a private IP during execution, an attacker can access sensitive local services and potentially exfiltrate data. This issue has been patched in version 0.3.0.

Title
LinkAce affected by SSRF via link creation: NoPrivateIpRule not applied to LinkStoreRequest
Summary
LinkAce is a self-hosted archive to collect website links. When a user creates a link via POST /links, the server fetches HTML metadata from the provided URL (LinkRepository::create() calls HtmlMeta::getFromUrl()). The LinkStoreRequest validation rules do not include NoPrivateIpRule, allowing server-side requests to internal network addresses, Docker service hostnames, and cloud metadata endpoints. The project already has a NoPrivateIpRule class (app/Rules/NoPrivateIpRule.php) but it is only applied in FetchController.php (line 99), not in the primary link creation path.

Title
SSRF vulnerability in opennextjs-cloudflare via /cdn-cgi/ path normalization bypass
Summary
A Server-Side Request Forgery (SSRF) vulnerability was identified in the @opennextjs/cloudflare package, resulting from a path normalization bypass in the /cdn-cgi/image/ handler. The @opennextjs/cloudflare worker template includes a /cdn-cgi/image/ handler intended for development use only. In production, Cloudflare's edge intercepts /cdn-cgi/image/ requests before they reach the Worker. However, by substituting a backslash for a forward slash (/cdn-cgi\image/ instead of /cdn-cgi/image/), an attacker can bypass edge interception and have the request reach the Worker directly. The JavaScript URL class then normalizes the backslash to a forward slash, causing the request to match the handler and trigger an unvalidated fetch of arbitrary remote URLs. For example: https://victim-site.com/cdn-cgi\image/aaaa/https://attacker.com In this example, attacker-controlled content from attacker.com is served through the victim site's domain (victim-site.com), violating the same-origin policy and potentially misleading users or other services. Note: This bypass only works via HTTP clients that preserve backslashes in paths (e.g., curl --path-as-is). Browsers normalize backslashes to forward slashes before sending requests. Additionally, Cloudflare Workers with Assets and Cloudflare Pages suffer from a similar vulnerability. Assets stored under /cdn-cgi/ paths are not publicly accessible under normal conditions. However, using the same backslash bypass (/cdn-cgi\... instead of /cdn-cgi/...), these assets become publicly accessible. This could be used to retrieve private data. For example, Open Next projects store incremental cache data under /cdn-cgi/_next_cache, which could be exposed via this bypass.

"value": "A Server-Side Request Forgery (SSRF) vulnerability was identified in the @opennextjs/cloudflare package, resulting from a path normalization bypass in the /cdn-cgi/image/ handler. The @opennextjs/cloudflare worker template includes a /cdn-cgi/image/ handler intended for development use only. In production, Cloudflare\u0027s edge intercepts /cdn-cgi/image/ requests before they reach the Worker. However, by substituting a backslash for a forward slash (/cdn-cgi\\image/ instead of /cdn-cgi/image/), an attacker can bypass edge interception and have the request reach the Worker directly. The JavaScript URL class then normalizes the backslash to a forward slash, causing the request to match the handler and trigger an unvalidated fetch of arbitrary remote URLs.\n\nFor example: \n\n https://victim-site.com/cdn-cgi\\image/aaaa/https://attacker.com \n\nIn this example, attacker-controlled content from attacker.com is served through the victim site\u0027s domain (victim-site.com), violating the same-origin policy and potentially misleading users or other services.\n\nNote: This bypass only works via HTTP clients that preserve backslashes in paths (e.g., curl --path-as-is). Browsers normalize backslashes to forward slashes before sending requests.\n\nAdditionally, Cloudflare Workers with Assets and Cloudflare Pages suffer from a similar vulnerability. Assets stored under /cdn-cgi/ paths are not publicly accessible under normal conditions. Title
Tautulli: Unauthenticated pms_image_proxy endpoint proxies arbitrary HTTP requests through the Plex Media Server
Summary
Tautulli is a Python based monitoring and tracking tool for Plex Media Server. Prior to version 2.17.0, the /pms_image_proxy endpoint accepts a user-supplied img parameter and forwards it to Plex Media Server's /photo/:/ transcode transcoder without authentication and without restricting the scheme or host. The endpoint is intentionally excluded from all authentication checks in webstart.py, any value of img beginning with http is passed directly to Plex, this causes the Plex Media Server process, which typically runs on the same host or internal network as Tautulli, with access to RFC-1918 address space, to issue an outbound HTTP request to any attacker-specified URL. This issue has been patched in version 2.17.0.

Title
Budibase: Server-Side Request Forgery via REST Connector with Empty Default Blacklist
Summary
Budibase is an open-source low-code platform. Prior to version 3.33.4, a server-side request forgery (SSRF) vulnerability exists in Budibase's REST datasource connector. The platform's SSRF protection mechanism (IP blacklist) is rendered completely ineffective because the BLACKLIST_IPS environment variable is not set by default in any of the official deployment configurations. When this variable is empty, the blacklist function unconditionally returns false, allowing all requests through without restriction. This issue has been patched in version 3.33.4.

Title
Flowise affected by Server-Side Request Forgery (SSRF) in HTTP Node Leading to Internal Network Access
Summary
Flowise is a drag & drop user interface to build a customized large language model flow. Prior to 3.0.13, Flowise exposes an HTTP Node in AgentFlow and Chatflow that performs server-side HTTP requests using user-controlled URLs. By default, there are no restrictions on target hosts, including private/internal IP ranges (RFC 1918), localhost, or cloud metadata endpoints. This enables Server-Side Request Forgery (SSRF), allowing any user interacting with a publicly exposed chatflow to force the Flowise server to make requests to internal network resources that are inaccessible from the public internet. This vulnerability is fixed in 3.0.13.

Title
Frappe: Possible SSRF by any authenticated user
Summary
Frappe is a full-stack web application framework. Prior to 14.100.1, 15.100.0, and 16.6.0, a malicious user could send a crafted request to an endpoint which would lead to the server making an HTTP call to a service of the user's choice. This vulnerability is fixed in 14.100.1, 15.100.0, and 16.6.0.

CAPEC-664: Server Side Request Forgery

An adversary exploits improper input validation by submitting maliciously crafted input to a target application running on a server, with the goal of forcing the server to make a request either to itself, to web services running in the server’s internal network, or to external third parties. If successful, the adversary’s request will be made with the server’s privilege level, bypassing its authentication controls. This ultimately allows the adversary to access sensitive data, execute commands on the server’s network, and make external requests with the stolen identity of the server. Server Side Request Forgery attacks differ from Cross Site Request Forgery attacks in that they target the server itself, whereas CSRF attacks exploit an insecure user authentication mechanism to perform unauthorized actions on the user's behalf.
