Vulnerability from github – Published: 2025-09-22 21:30 – Updated: 2025-09-22 21:30In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
drm/i915/gem: add missing boundary check in vm_access
A missing bounds check in vm_access() can lead to an out-of-bounds read or write in the adjacent memory area, since the len attribute is not validated before the memcpy later in the function, potentially hitting:

GHSA-QRX4-Q7HG-2XX2
Vulnerability from github – Published: 2026-06-08 18:31 – Updated: 2026-06-14 06:30In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
wifi: ath5k: do not access array OOB
Vincent reports:
The ath5k driver seems to do an array-index-out-of-bounds access as shown by the UBSAN kernel message: UBSAN: array-index-out-of-bounds in drivers/net/wireless/ath/ath5k/base.c:1741:20 index 4 is out of range for type 'ieee80211_tx_rate [4]' ... Call Trace: dump_stack_lvl+0x5d/0x80 ubsan_epilogue+0x5/0x2b __ubsan_handle_out_of_bounds.cold+0x46/0x4b ath5k_tasklet_tx+0x4e0/0x560 [ath5k] tasklet_action_common+0xb5/0x1c0
It is real. 'ts->ts_final_idx' can be 3 on 5212, so: info->status.rates[ts->ts_final_idx + 1].idx = -1; with the array defined as: struct ieee80211_tx_rate rates[IEEE80211_TX_MAX_RATES]; while the size is: #define IEEE80211_TX_MAX_RATES 4 is indeed bogus.
Set this 'idx = -1' sentinel only if the array index is less than the array size. As mac80211 will not look at rates beyond the size (IEEE80211_TX_MAX_RATES).
Note: The effect of the OOB write is negligible. It just overwrites the next member of info->status, i.e. ack_signal.

Vulnerability from github – Published: 2022-05-24 19:07 – Updated: 2022-10-08 00:00A vulnerability has been identified in JT2Go (All versions < V13.2), Teamcenter Visualization (All versions < V13.2). The VisDraw.dll library in affected applications lacks proper validation of user-supplied data when parsing J2K files. This could result in an out of bounds read past the end of an allocated buffer. An attacker could leverage this vulnerability to leak information in the context of the current process. (ZDI-CAN-13414)

Vulnerability from github – Published: 2023-03-28 21:30 – Updated: 2023-03-28 21:30Adobe Dimension versions 3.4.7 (and earlier) is affected by an out-of-bounds read vulnerability that could lead to disclosure of sensitive memory. An attacker could leverage this vulnerability to bypass mitigations such as ASLR. Exploitation of this issue requires user interaction in that a victim must open a malicious file.

Vulnerability from github – Published: 2022-05-24 19:20 – Updated: 2022-05-24 19:20An out-of-bounds read vulnerability exists in the U3D file reading procedure in Open Design Alliance PRC SDK before 2022.10. Crafted data in a U3D file can trigger a read past the end of an allocated buffer. An attacker can leverage this in conjunction with other vulnerabilities to execute arbitrary code in the context of the current process.

GHSA-QV83-77RJ-635J
Vulnerability from github – Published: 2022-05-13 01:19 – Updated: 2022-05-13 01:19An issue was discovered in xenvif_set_hash_mapping in drivers/net/xen-netback/hash.c in the Linux kernel through 4.18.1, as used in Xen through 4.11.x and other products. The Linux netback driver allows frontends to control mapping of requests to request queues. When processing a request to set or change this mapping, some input validation (e.g., for an integer overflow) was missing or flawed, leading to OOB access in hash handling. A malicious or buggy frontend may cause the (usually privileged) backend to make out of bounds memory accesses, potentially resulting in one or more of privilege escalation, Denial of Service (DoS), or information leaks.

Mitigation MIT-5
Strategy: Input Validation
- Assume all input is malicious. Use an "accept known good" input validation strategy, i.e., use a list of acceptable inputs that strictly conform to specifications. Reject any input that does not strictly conform to specifications, or transform it into something that does.
- When performing input validation, consider all potentially relevant properties, including length, type of input, the full range of acceptable values, missing or extra inputs, syntax, consistency across related fields, and conformance to business rules. As an example of business rule logic, "boat" may be syntactically valid because it only contains alphanumeric characters, but it is not valid if the input is only expected to contain colors such as "red" or "blue."
- Do not rely exclusively on looking for malicious or malformed inputs. This is likely to miss at least one undesirable input, especially if the code's environment changes. This can give attackers enough room to bypass the intended validation. However, denylists can be useful for detecting potential attacks or determining which inputs are so malformed that they should be rejected outright.
- To reduce the likelihood of introducing an out-of-bounds read, ensure that you validate and ensure correct calculations for any length argument, buffer size calculation, or offset. Be especially careful of relying on a sentinel (i.e. special character such as NUL) in untrusted inputs.
Mitigation
Strategy: Language Selection
Use a language that provides appropriate memory abstractions.
CAPEC-540: Overread Buffers
An adversary attacks a target by providing input that causes an application to read beyond the boundary of a defined buffer. This typically occurs when a value influencing where to start or stop reading is set to reflect positions outside of the valid memory location of the buffer. This type of attack may result in exposure of sensitive information, a system crash, or arbitrary code execution.
