CWE-191
AllowedInteger Underflow (Wrap or Wraparound)
Abstraction: Base · Status: Draft
The product subtracts one value from another, such that the result is less than the minimum allowable integer value, which produces a value that is not equal to the correct result.
705 vulnerabilities reference this CWE, most recent first.
GHSA-XCJ3-M9C5-2PRQ
Vulnerability from github – Published: 2026-01-02 18:30 – Updated: 2026-06-30 03:35An integer underflow vulnerability exists in the nextstate() function in gpsd/packet.c of gpsd versions prior to commit ffa1d6f40bca0b035fc7f5e563160ebb67199da7. When parsing a NAVCOM packet, the payload length is calculated using lexer->length = (size_t)c - 4 without checking if the input byte c is less than 4. This results in an unsigned integer underflow, setting lexer->length to a very large value (near SIZE_MAX). The parser then enters a loop attempting to consume this massive number of bytes, causing 100% CPU utilization and a Denial of Service (DoS) condition.

GHSA-XCWV-GJ8Q-63VM
Vulnerability from github – Published: 2025-03-18 21:31 – Updated: 2025-03-18 21:31In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
RDMA/irdma: Prevent some integer underflows
My static checker complains that:
drivers/infiniband/hw/irdma/ctrl.c:3605 irdma_sc_ceq_init()
warn: can subtract underflow 'info->dev->hmc_fpm_misc.max_ceqs'?
It appears that "info->dev->hmc_fpm_misc.max_ceqs" comes from the firmware in irdma_sc_parse_fpm_query_buf() so, yes, there is a chance that it could be zero. Even if we trust the firmware, it's easy enough to change the condition just as a hardenning measure.

GHSA-XMHR-MV9M-HHVF
Vulnerability from github – Published: 2022-05-24 17:13 – Updated: 2022-05-24 17:13An exploitable signed comparison vulnerability exists in the ARMv7 memcpy() implementation of GNU glibc 2.30.9000. Calling memcpy() (on ARMv7 targets that utilize the GNU glibc implementation) with a negative value for the 'num' parameter results in a signed comparison vulnerability. If an attacker underflows the 'num' parameter to memcpy(), this vulnerability could lead to undefined behavior such as writing to out-of-bounds memory and potentially remote code execution. Furthermore, this memcpy() implementation allows for program execution to continue in scenarios where a segmentation fault or crash should have occurred. The dangers occur in that subsequent execution and iterations of this code will be executed with this corrupted data.
