Title
Ultimate Member <= 2.11.4 - Authenticated (Contributor+) Account Takeover via Password Reset Link Disclosure
Summary
The Ultimate Member plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Account Takeover via Password Reset Link Disclosure in all versions up to and including 2.11.4. This is due to a chain of three logic bugs: (1) an MD5 hash fallback in get_directory_by_hash() that allows any post to be used as a member directory by computing SUBSTRING(MD5(post_id), 11, 5), (2) a strstr() parsing logic flaw in post_data() that allows bypassing WordPress's protected meta key restrictions by placing '_um_' anywhere in the meta key name rather than at the start, and (3) missing field name validation in build_user_card_data() that allows arbitrary field names including 'password_reset_link' to be passed to um_filtered_value(). This makes it possible for authenticated attackers with Contributor-level access and above to create a malicious post via XMLRPC with crafted meta fields, use the MD5 fallback to point the member directory AJAX handler to their post, inject 'password_reset_link' into the tagline_fields configuration, and leak live password reset URLs for all users in the member directory response, including administrators.

Title
Cost Calculator Builder <= 3.6.17 - Missing Authorization to Authenticated (Subscriber+) Sensitive Information Disclosure
Summary
The Cost Calculator Builder plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to unauthorized access of sensitive data due to a missing capability check on the `cost-calculator-custom-export-run` AJAX action (handler `CCBExportImport::export_calculators()`) in all versions up to, and including, 3.6.17. The handler only verifies a nonce, but the corresponding `ccb_export_nonce` is broadcast on every wp-admin page (including pages reachable to Subscribers, such as `/wp-admin/profile.php`) by the `ccb_add_admin_nonces` callback hooked to `admin_head`. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with Subscriber-level access and above, to export every calculator's full configuration — including stored Stripe secret keys, PayPal client secrets, Razorpay secret keys, webhook secret keys, and reCAPTCHA secret keys.

Title
Layouts for WPBakery <= 1.1.3 - Missing Authorization to Unauthenticated Template Cache Manipulation via 'handle_sync' AJAX Action
Summary
The Layouts for WPBakery plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to unauthorized actions due to a missing capability check on the `Layouts_WPB_Remote::template_sync()` callback registered via `wp_ajax_nopriv_handle_sync` in all versions up to, and including, 1.1.3. This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to force the WordPress server to issue outbound HTTP requests to the plugin vendor's external API (`https://www.layoutsforwpbakery.com/wp-json/layoutsforwpbakery/v1/{templates,categories}`) and to write the JSON-decoded responses verbatim into the site's `wp_options` table via `set_transient()` — at any rate the attacker chooses, with no nonce verification, capability check, or rate limiting.

Title
SEO Plugin by Squirrly SEO <= 12.4.16 - Missing Authorization to Authenticated (Contributor+) Privileged Cloud API Operations
Summary
The SEO Plugin by Squirrly SEO plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to authorization bypass in all versions up to, and including, 12.4.16. This is due to the plugin not properly verifying that a user is authorized to perform an action. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with contributor-level access and above, to invoke privileged state-changing Squirrly cloud API operations, such as revoking the site's Google Search Console and Google Analytics integrations via `api/gsc/revoke` and `api/ga/revoke`, that are otherwise restricted to administrator-level users holding the `sq_manage_settings` capability.

Title
Notification for Telegram <= 3.5.1 - Missing Authorization to Authenticated (Subscriber+) Cron Modification via nftb_cron_action_set AJAX Action
Summary
The Notification for Telegram plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to authorization bypass in all versions up to, and including, 3.5.1. This is due to the plugin not properly verifying that a user is authorized to perform an action. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with subscriber-level access and above, to create, modify, or reschedule the nftb_cron_hook WordPress cron event, enabling unauthorized manipulation of the plugin's background task scheduling logic.

Title
Affilia <= 3.3.3 - Missing Authorization to Authenticated (Subscriber+) Arbitrary Status Modification
Summary
The Affilia – Affiliate Program & Referral Tracking for WordPress plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to unauthorized access in all versions up to, and including, 3.3.3. This is due to the plugin not properly verifying that a user is authorized to perform an action. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with subscriber-level access and above, to approve or reject affiliate referrals, credit commissions to affiliate wallets, delete referral records, and modify custom banner plugin options, enabling financial fraud. The nonce required to pass the only authentication check is embedded in every frontend page load via rtwalwm_global_params.rtwalwm_nonce, making it trivially accessible to any authenticated user regardless of role.

Title
Age Verification & Identity Verification by Token of Trust <= 4.0.2 - Missing Authorization to Unauthenticated Information Exposure via 'tot_export_table' Parameter
Summary
The Age Verification & Identity Verification by Token of Trust plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to unauthorized access in all versions up to and including 4.0.2. This is due to the handle_export_table() function being registered on the WordPress 'init' hook, which fires for all requests, including those from unauthenticated visitors, without any capability check. This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to download a CSV file containing sensitive WooCommerce donation data, including order dates, order IDs, charitable donation amounts, and admin-only order edit URLs, simply by visiting any page on the site with the 'tot_export_table' GET parameter set to a numeric value (0–3).

Mitigation
Architecture and Design
  • Divide the product into anonymous, normal, privileged, and administrative areas. Reduce the attack surface by carefully mapping roles with data and functionality. Use role-based access control (RBAC) [REF-229] to enforce the roles at the appropriate boundaries.
  • Note that this approach may not protect against horizontal authorization, i.e., it will not protect a user from attacking others with the same role.
Mitigation
Architecture and Design

Ensure that access control checks are performed related to the business logic. These checks may be different than the access control checks that are applied to more generic resources such as files, connections, processes, memory, and database records. For example, a database may restrict access for medical records to a specific database user, but each record might only be intended to be accessible to the patient and the patient's doctor [REF-7].

Mitigation MIT-4.4
Architecture and Design

Strategy: Libraries or Frameworks

  • Use a vetted library or framework that does not allow this weakness to occur or provides constructs that make this weakness easier to avoid.
  • For example, consider using authorization frameworks such as the JAAS Authorization Framework [REF-233] and the OWASP ESAPI Access Control feature [REF-45].
Mitigation
Architecture and Design
  • For web applications, make sure that the access control mechanism is enforced correctly at the server side on every page. Users should not be able to access any unauthorized functionality or information by simply requesting direct access to that page.
  • One way to do this is to ensure that all pages containing sensitive information are not cached, and that all such pages restrict access to requests that are accompanied by an active and authenticated session token associated with a user who has the required permissions to access that page.
Mitigation
System Configuration Installation

Use the access control capabilities of your operating system and server environment and define your access control lists accordingly. Use a "default deny" policy when defining these ACLs.

CAPEC-665: Exploitation of Thunderbolt Protection Flaws

An adversary leverages a firmware weakness within the Thunderbolt protocol, on a computing device to manipulate Thunderbolt controller firmware in order to exploit vulnerabilities in the implementation of authorization and verification schemes within Thunderbolt protection mechanisms. Upon gaining physical access to a target device, the adversary conducts high-level firmware manipulation of the victim Thunderbolt controller SPI (Serial Peripheral Interface) flash, through the use of a SPI Programing device and an external Thunderbolt device, typically as the target device is booting up. If successful, this allows the adversary to modify memory, subvert authentication mechanisms, spoof identities and content, and extract data and memory from the target device. Currently 7 major vulnerabilities exist within Thunderbolt protocol with 9 attack vectors as noted in the Execution Flow.
