Details

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:

nfc: pn533: initialize struct pn533_out_arg properly

struct pn533_out_arg used as a temporary context for out_urb is not initialized properly. Its uninitialized 'phy' field can be dereferenced in error cases inside pn533_out_complete() callback function. It causes the following failure:

Details

A privilege escalation vulnerability exists in the ControlVault WBDI Driver WBIO_USH_ADD_RECORD functionality of Dell ControlVault3 prior to 5.15.14.19 and Dell ControlVault3 Plus prior to 6.2.36.47. A specially crafted WinBioControlUnit call can lead to privilege escalation. An attacker can issue an api call to trigger this vulnerability.

Details

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:

usb-storage: alauda: Check whether the media is initialized

The member "uzonesize" of struct alauda_info will remain 0 if alauda_init_media() fails, potentially causing divide errors in alauda_read_data() and alauda_write_lba(). - Add a member "media_initialized" to struct alauda_info. - Change a condition in alauda_check_media() to ensure the first initialization. - Add an error check for the return value of alauda_init_media().

Vulnerability from github – Published: 2024-10-21 21:30 – Updated: 2024-10-29 18:30
VLAI
Details

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:

igb: Initialize mailbox message for VF reset

When a MAC address is not assigned to the VF, that portion of the message sent to the VF is not set. The memory, however, is allocated from the stack meaning that information may be leaked to the VM. Initialize the message buffer to 0 so that no information is passed to the VM in this case.

GHSA-2MJG-798R-MXWH

Vulnerability from github – Published: 2024-09-04 00:31 – Updated: 2025-11-04 00:31
VLAI
Details

A vulnerability was found in OpenSC, OpenSC tools, PKCS#11 module, minidriver, and CTK. An attacker could use a crafted USB Device or Smart Card, which would present the system with a specially crafted response to APDUs. When buffers are partially filled with data, initialized parts of the buffer can be incorrectly accessed.

Mitigation
Implementation

Explicitly initialize the resource before use. If this is performed through an API function or standard procedure, follow all required steps.

Mitigation
Implementation

Pay close attention to complex conditionals that affect initialization, since some branches might not perform the initialization.

Mitigation
Implementation

Avoid race conditions (CWE-362) during initialization routines.

Mitigation
Build and Compilation

Run or compile the product with settings that generate warnings about uninitialized variables or data.

No CAPEC attack patterns related to this CWE.
