Title
WWBN AVideo's missing CSRF protection in objects/commentDelete.json.php enables mass comment deletion against moderators and content creators
Summary
WWBN AVideo is an open source video platform. In versions 29.0 and prior, `objects/commentDelete.json.php` is a state-mutating JSON endpoint that deletes comments but performs no CSRF validation. It does not call `forbidIfIsUntrustedRequest()`, does not verify a CSRF/global token, and does not check `Origin`/`Referer`. Because AVideo intentionally sets `session.cookie_samesite=None` (to support cross-origin embed players), a cross-site request from any attacker-controlled page automatically carries the victim's `PHPSESSID`. Any authenticated victim who has authority to delete one or more comments (site moderators, video owners, and comment authors) can be tricked into deleting comments en masse simply by visiting an attacker page. Commit 184f36b1896f3364f864f17c1acca3dd8df3af27 contains a fix.

Title
Apache Airflow Providers Keycloak: OAuth Login CSRF — Missing State Parameter in Keycloak Auth Manager
Summary
The Keycloak authentication manager in `apache-airflow-providers-keycloak` did not generate or validate the OAuth 2.0 `state` parameter on the login / login-callback flow, and did not use PKCE. An attacker with a Keycloak account in the same realm could deliver a crafted callback URL to a victim's browser and cause the victim to be logged into the attacker's Airflow session (login-CSRF / session fixation), where any credentials the victim subsequently stored in Airflow Connections would be harvestable by the attacker. Users are advised to upgrade `apache-airflow-providers-keycloak` to 0.7.0 or later.

Title
RT has broken CSRF protection for authenticated users
Summary
RT is an open source, enterprise-grade issue and ticket tracking system. Versions 6.0.0 through 6.0.2 contain a Cross-Site Request Forgery (CSRF) vulnerability. An attacker who can induce a logged-in RT user to visit a malicious web page can trigger arbitrary state-changing actions in RT on that user's behalf. This issue has been fixed in version 6.0.3.

Title
Call To Action Plugin <= 3.1.3 - Cross-Site Request Forgery via Settings Update
Summary
The Call To Action Plugin plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Cross-Site Request Forgery in all versions up to, and including, 3.1.3. This is due to missing nonce validation in the cbox_options_page() function which handles saving, creating, and deleting plugin settings. The form rendered on the settings page does not include a wp_nonce_field(), and the save handler does not call wp_verify_nonce() or check_admin_referer() before processing settings updates via $wpdb->update(). This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to modify plugin settings such as call-to-action box title, content, link URL, image URL, colors, and other configuration options via a forged request, granted they can trick a site administrator into performing an action such as clicking on a link.

Title
FreeScout's Mailbox OAuth disconnect uses a state-changing GET and is CSRFable
Summary
FreeScout is a free self-hosted help desk and shared mailbox. Prior to version 1.8.215, the mailbox OAuth disconnect action is implemented as `GET /mailbox/oauth-disconnect/{id}/{in_out}/{provider}`. It removes stored OAuth metadata from the mailbox and then redirects. Because it is a GET route, no CSRF token is required and the action can be triggered cross-site against a logged-in mailbox admin. Version 1.8.215 fixes the vulnerability.

Title
Kcaptcha <= 1.0.1 - Cross-Site Request Forgery to Settings Update
Summary
The Kcaptcha plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Cross-Site Request Forgery in all versions up to and including 1.0.1. This is due to missing nonce validation in the plugin's settings page handler (admin/setting.php). The settings form does not include a wp_nonce_field() and the form processing code does not call wp_verify_nonce() or check_admin_referer() before saving settings to the database via $wpdb->update(). This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to modify the plugin's CAPTCHA settings (enabling or disabling CAPTCHA on login, registration, lost password, and comment forms) via a forged request, granted they can trick a site administrator into performing an action such as clicking a link.

Title
CKAN: CSRF exemption primed by anonymous requests
Summary
CKAN is an open-source DMS (data management system) for powering data hubs and data portals. Prior to 2.10.10 and 2.11.5, Access to the views via tokens or unauthenticated requests marked the endpoint as not requiring CSRF protection. The marking was a member variable in flask-wtf.csrf.CSRFProtect(), which was stored as a module level variable in the flask_app middleware. This API was never intended for request level changes, it is primarily a decorator for static configuration. An unauthenticated request could hit a protected endpoint, exempting it from CSRF protection for the life of the particular server process. (e.g. one worker of uwsgi). This vulnerability is fixed in 2.10.10 and 2.11.5.

Title
WP Responsive Popup + Optin <= 1.4 - Cross-Site Request Forgery to Stored Cross-Site Scripting via 'wpo_image_url' Parameter
Summary
The WP Responsive Popup + Optin plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Cross-Site Request Forgery in all versions up to and including 1.4. This is due to the settings form on the admin page (wpo_admin_page.php) lacking nonce generation (wp_nonce_field) and verification (wp_verify_nonce/check_admin_referer). This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to update all plugin settings including the 'wpo_image_url' parameter via a forged request, granted they can trick a site administrator into performing an action such as clicking a link.

Title
TextP2P Texting Widget <= 1.7 - Cross-Site Request Forgery to Settings Update
Summary
The TextP2P Texting Widget plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Cross-Site Request Forgery in all versions up to and including 1.7. This is due to missing nonce validation in the imTextP2POptionPage() function which processes settings updates. The form at line 314 does not include a wp_nonce_field(), and the POST handler at line 7 does not call check_admin_referer() or wp_verify_nonce() before processing settings changes. This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to update all plugin settings including chat widget titles, messages, API credentials, colors, and reCAPTCHA configuration via a forged request, granted they can trick a site administrator into performing an action such as clicking a link.

Mitigation ID: MIT-4

Phase: Architecture and Design

Strategy: Libraries or Frameworks

Description:

  • Use a vetted library or framework that does not allow this weakness to occur or provides constructs that make this weakness easier to avoid [REF-1482].
  • For example, use anti-CSRF packages such as the OWASP CSRFGuard. [REF-330]
  • Another example is the ESAPI Session Management control, which includes a component for CSRF. [REF-45]
Mitigation

Phase: Implementation

Description:

  • Ensure that the application is free of cross-site scripting issues (CWE-79), because most CSRF defenses can be bypassed using attacker-controlled script.
Mitigation

Phase: Architecture and Design

Description:

  • Generate a unique nonce for each form, place the nonce into the form, and verify the nonce upon receipt of the form. Be sure that the nonce is not predictable (CWE-330). [REF-332]
Mitigation

Phase: Architecture and Design

Description:

  • Identify especially dangerous operations. When the user performs a dangerous operation, send a separate confirmation request to ensure that the user intended to perform that operation.
Mitigation

Phase: Architecture and Design

Description:

  • Use the "double-submitted cookie" method as described by Felten and Zeller:
  • When a user visits a site, the site should generate a pseudorandom value and set it as a cookie on the user's machine. The site should require every form submission to include this value as a form value and also as a cookie value. When a POST request is sent to the site, the request should only be considered valid if the form value and the cookie value are the same.
  • Because of the same-origin policy, an attacker cannot read or modify the value stored in the cookie. To successfully submit a form on behalf of the user, the attacker would have to correctly guess the pseudorandom value. If the pseudorandom value is cryptographically strong, this will be prohibitively difficult.
  • This technique requires Javascript, so it may not work for browsers that have Javascript disabled. [REF-331]
Mitigation

Phase: Architecture and Design

Description:

  • Do not use the GET method for any request that triggers a state change.
Mitigation

Phase: Implementation

Description:

  • Check the HTTP Referer header to see if the request originated from an expected page. This could break legitimate functionality, because users or proxies may have disabled sending the Referer for privacy reasons.
CAPEC-111: JSON Hijacking (aka JavaScript Hijacking)

An attacker targets a system that uses JavaScript Object Notation (JSON) as a transport mechanism between the client and the server (common in Web 2.0 systems using AJAX) to steal possibly confidential information transmitted from the server back to the client inside the JSON object by taking advantage of the loophole in the browser's Same Origin Policy that does not prohibit JavaScript from one website to be included and executed in the context of another website.

CAPEC-462: Cross-Domain Search Timing

An attacker initiates cross domain HTTP / GET requests and times the server responses. The timing of these responses may leak important information on what is happening on the server. Browser's same origin policy prevents the attacker from directly reading the server responses (in the absence of any other weaknesses), but does not prevent the attacker from timing the responses to requests that the attacker issued cross domain.

CAPEC-467: Cross Site Identification

An attacker harvests identifying information about a victim via an active session that the victim's browser has with a social networking site. A victim may have the social networking site open in one tab or perhaps is simply using the "remember me" feature to keep their session with the social networking site active. An attacker induces a payload to execute in the victim's browser that transparently to the victim initiates a request to the social networking site (e.g., via available social network site APIs) to retrieve identifying information about a victim. While some of this information may be public, the attacker is able to harvest this information in context and may use it for further attacks on the user (e.g., spear phishing).

CAPEC-62: Cross Site Request Forgery

An attacker crafts malicious web links and distributes them (via web pages, email, etc.), typically in a targeted manner, hoping to induce users to click on the link and execute the malicious action against some third-party application. If successful, the action embedded in the malicious link will be processed and accepted by the targeted application with the users' privilege level. This type of attack leverages the persistence and implicit trust placed in user session cookies by many web applications today. In such an architecture, once the user authenticates to an application and a session cookie is created on the user's system, all following transactions for that session are authenticated using that cookie including potential actions initiated by an attacker and simply "riding" the existing session cookie.
