Common Weakness Enumeration

CWE-416

Allowed

Use After Free

Abstraction: Variant · Status: Stable

The product reuses or references memory after it has been freed. At some point afterward, the memory may be allocated again and saved in another pointer, while the original pointer references a location somewhere within the new allocation. Any operations using the original pointer are no longer valid because the memory "belongs" to the code that operates on the new pointer.

10190 vulnerabilities reference this CWE, most recent first.

Title
Vim: Use-after-free in JSON Decoding
Summary
Vim is an open source, command line text editor. From 9.2.0511 until 9.2.0844, json_decode_item() in src/json.c can retain a stale pointer after json_decode_string() invokes channel_fill() to refill and free the current buffer, causing the error path to read freed memory instead of reader->js_buf + reader->js_used when an invalid JSON string spans buffers. This issue is fixed in version 9.2.0844.

Title
OP-TEE OS 4.10.0 Use-After-Free via Trusted Application Loader TA_FLAG_CONCURRENT
Summary
OP-TEE OS through 4.10.0, fixed in commit 8794043, contains a use-after-free vulnerability in the Trusted Application loader that allows attackers with the ability to load a signed Trusted Application to corrupt secure-world kernel memory by setting the TA_FLAG_CONCURRENT flag in a user TA signed header. Attackers can cause two concurrent sessions to operate on the same shared context without locking, corrupting the uctx->vm_info.regions list during memref parameter mapping and unmapping to free vm_region nodes still in use, resulting in a use-after-free in S-EL1 secure-world kernel memory.

Title
Ruby JSON: JSON::ResumableParser#partial_value dereferences a freed input buffer and crashes on truncated duplicate-key streams
Summary
Ruby JSON is a JSON implementation for Ruby. From 2.20.0 until 2.21.2, Ruby's JSON native C extension clears the consumed JSON::ResumableParser input buffer but leaves state.start, state.cursor, and state.end pointing into released storage. When partial_value reconstructs an incomplete object containing duplicate keys, the duplicate-key warning path calls cursor_position, which dereferences those stale pointers. This results in a heap-use-after-free and can terminate the Ruby process. An attacker who can supply JSON stream data to an application using JSON::ResumableParser may cause process termination when the application calls partial_value on incomplete attacker-controlled input containing duplicate object keys. This issue has been fixed in version 2.21.2.

CVE-2026-69244 (GCVE-0-2026-69244)

Vulnerability from cvelistv5 – Published: 2026-08-03 20:50 – Updated: 2026-08-04 14:13

Title
AIOHTTP: Out-of-bounds heap read in C HTTP response parser error path (malformed chunked response)
Summary
AIOHTTP is an asynchronous HTTP client/server framework for asyncio and Python. Prior to 3.14.3, an out-of-bounds heap read could occur in the C response parser while building an error message for a malformed response. An attacker controlled server, or possibly an accidental response, could trigger a DoS in the client. The vulnerable path was error message construction in aiohttp/_http_parser.pyx, where an llhttp error-position pointer was used to build a snippet for malformed chunked responses and malformed request or response bytes at the buffer end. This issue is fixed in version 3.14.3.

Title
FreeRDP before 3.29.0 Use-After-Free via async message proxy
Summary
FreeRDP before 3.29.0 contains client-side heap use-after-free vulnerabilities in the async update message proxy for RAIL WINDOW_STATE_ORDER and NOTIFY_ICON_STATE_ORDER when AsyncUpdate is enabled. When a malicious or compromised RDP server sends crafted update orders, the message proxy shallow-copies structures containing nested parser-owned pointers (e.g., titleInfo.string, windowRects, visibilityRects, icon buffers). The parser frees those nested buffers after the callback returns, so the queued async message later dispatches stale pointers, potentially causing memory corruption or a client crash.
