Title
DevKit Pro <= 2.3.0 - Missing Authorization to Authenticated (Subscriber+) Arbitrary Theme Installation / Remote Code Execution via 'qqfile' Parameter
Summary
The DevKit Pro plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Missing Authorization in versions up to, and including, 2.3.0. This is due to a missing capability check and missing nonce validation in the DPDEV_install_themes_func() function registered on the wp_ajax_DPDEV_install_themes action. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with Subscriber-level access and above, to install arbitrary theme ZIP packages containing PHP files that are extracted into the web-accessible wp-content/themes/ directory, which may make remote code execution possible.

FleekDash V2 <= 2.6.2.2 - Missing Authorization to Authenticated (Subscriber+) Administrator Account Takeover via /users/{id} REST Endpoint
Summary
The FleekDash V2 plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to authorization bypass in all versions up to, and including, 2.6.2.2. This is due to the plugin not properly verifying that a user is authorized to perform an action. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with subscriber-level access and above, to overwrite the email address and password of any WordPress user, including administrators, enabling full account takeover and complete site compromise. The public /wp-json/fleekdash/v1/register endpoint auto-provisions a Subscriber-role account and returns a valid REST nonce regardless of the site's users_can_register setting, enabling unauthenticated attackers to self-provision the required credentials and nonce in a single prior request.

The Booking for Appointments and Events Calendar – Amelia plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to unauthorized access and modification of data due to a missing ownership verification on /users/customers/<id> endpoint in all versions up to, and including, 2.4.4. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with wpamelia-provider role, to view and modify arbitrary customers, including password reset. Takeover of WordPress user accounts, with the roles up to Editor, is also possible if that user had made an Amelia booking. This vulnerability affects only the Premium version of the plugin, where the Employee Panel is present.

A flaw was found in the OpenShift GitOps operator. The ClusterRole reconciler does not validate resource ownership when reconciling ClusterRole objects. A namespace-scoped Argo CD instance can trigger deletion of a ClusterRole owned by a cluster-scoped Argo CD instance by crafting a name collision, resulting in a denial of service.

The miniOrange OTP Login, Verification and SMS Notifications plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Authentication Bypass leading to Administrator Account Takeover in all versions up to, and including, 5.5.1. This is due to the `um_reset_password_process_hook()` function performing no server-side verification that the OTP validation step was completed, and relying solely on a public `form_nonce` nonce that the plugin itself emits to unauthenticated visitors via the `moumprvar` JavaScript object on the Ultimate Member password reset page, while still accepting the attacker-controlled `username_b` parameter to target any WordPress user without role restriction or any binding to a previously validated OTP session. This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to obtain a freshly generated password-reset URL for an arbitrary Administrator account — returned in a 302 `Location` header — and use it to take full control of that account. Exploitation requires the Ultimate Member Password Reset Form integration to be active and the plugin to not be configured for phone-only reset.

Architecture and Design
  • Divide the product into anonymous, normal, privileged, and administrative areas. Reduce the attack surface by carefully mapping roles with data and functionality. Use role-based access control (RBAC) [REF-229] to enforce the roles at the appropriate boundaries.
  • Note that this approach may not protect against horizontal authorization, i.e., it will not protect a user from attacking others with the same role.
Mitigation
Architecture and Design

Ensure that access control checks are performed related to the business logic. These checks may be different than the access control checks that are applied to more generic resources such as files, connections, processes, memory, and database records. For example, a database may restrict access for medical records to a specific database user, but each record might only be intended to be accessible to the patient and the patient's doctor [REF-7].

Strategy: Libraries or Frameworks

  • Use a vetted library or framework that does not allow this weakness to occur or provides constructs that make this weakness easier to avoid.
  • For example, consider using authorization frameworks such as the JAAS Authorization Framework [REF-233] and the OWASP ESAPI Access Control feature [REF-45].
Mitigation
Architecture and Design
  • For web applications, make sure that the access control mechanism is enforced correctly at the server side on every page. Users should not be able to access any unauthorized functionality or information by simply requesting direct access to that page.
  • One way to do this is to ensure that all pages containing sensitive information are not cached, and that all such pages restrict access to requests that are accompanied by an active and authenticated session token associated with a user who has the required permissions to access that page.
Mitigation
System Configuration Installation

Use the access control capabilities of your operating system and server environment and define your access control lists accordingly. Use a "default deny" policy when defining these ACLs.

CAPEC-665: Exploitation of Thunderbolt Protection Flaws

An adversary leverages a firmware weakness within the Thunderbolt protocol, on a computing device to manipulate Thunderbolt controller firmware in order to exploit vulnerabilities in the implementation of authorization and verification schemes within Thunderbolt protection mechanisms. Upon gaining physical access to a target device, the adversary conducts high-level firmware manipulation of the victim Thunderbolt controller SPI (Serial Peripheral Interface) flash, through the use of a SPI Programing device and an external Thunderbolt device, typically as the target device is booting up. If successful, this allows the adversary to modify memory, subvert authentication mechanisms, spoof identities and content, and extract data and memory from the target device. Currently 7 major vulnerabilities exist within Thunderbolt protocol with 9 attack vectors as noted in the Execution Flow.
