Title
AVideo: Unauthenticated Access to Scheduler Plugin Endpoints Leaks Scheduled Tasks, Email Content, and User Mappings
Summary
WWBN AVideo is an open source video platform. In versions up to and including 26.0, three `list.json.php` endpoints in the Scheduler plugin lack any authentication check, while every other endpoint in the same plugin directories (`add.json.php`, `delete.json.php`, `index.php`) requires `User::isAdmin()`. An unauthenticated attacker can retrieve all scheduled tasks (including internal callback URLs and parameters), admin-composed email messages, and user-to-email targeting mappings by sending simple GET requests. Commit 83390ab1fa8dca2de3f8fa76116a126428405431 contains a patch.

Summary
WWBN AVideo is an open source video platform. In versions up to and including 26.0, the `objects/playlistsVideos.json.php` endpoint returns the full video contents of any playlist by ID without any authentication or authorization check. Private playlists (including `watch_later` and `favorite` types) are correctly hidden from listing endpoints via `playlistsFromUser.json.php`, but their contents are directly accessible through this endpoint by providing the sequential integer `playlists_id` parameter. Commit bb716fbece656c9fe39784f11e4e822b5867f1ca has a patch for the issue.

Title
TypeBot: Unauthenticated SSRF via isolated-vm fetch in preview chat endpoint bypasses SSRF controls
Summary
Typebot is a chatbot builder tool. In versions 3.15.2 and prior, the preview chat endpoint (POST /api/v1/typebots/{typebotId}/preview/startChat) allows unauthenticated users to achieve Server-Side Request Forgery (SSRF) by supplying a custom typebot definition with server-side code blocks. The fetch function exposed inside the isolated-vm sandbox calls Node.js native fetch without the SSRF validation (validateHttpReqUrl) that protects the HTTP Request block. This bypasses all SSRF mitigations added after GHSA-8gq9-rw7v-3jpr. Exploitation of this unauthenticated SSRF vulnerability can lead to cloud credential theft, internal network access and data exfiltration for any self-hosted Typebot deployments and hosted services. This issue has been fixed in version 3.16.0.

Summary
WWBN AVideo is an open source video platform. In versions up to and including 26.0, the `plugin/AD_Server/reports.json.php` endpoint performs no authentication or authorization checks, allowing any unauthenticated attacker to extract ad campaign analytics data including video titles, user channel names, user IDs, ad campaign names, and impression/click counts. The HTML counterpart (`reports.php`) and CSV export (`getCSV.php`) both correctly enforce `User::isAdmin()`, but the JSON API was left unprotected. Commit daca4ffb1ce19643eecaa044362c41ac2ce45dde contains a patch.

AVideo's Privilege AVideo: Escalation via Unguarded Permission Parameters in signUp API Allows Self-Granting Upload/Stream/Meet Permissions
Summary
WWBN AVideo is an open source video platform. Prior to version 29.0, Privilege Escalation is possible through unguarded permission parameters in signUp API, which allows any user who can solve a CAPTCHA to self-grant elevated permissions during account registration. The set_api_signUp method in the API plugin accepts emailVerified, canUpload, canStream, and canCreateMeet parameters from user-supplied input and applies them to newly created accounts without verifying that the request was authenticated with a valid APISecret. By self-granting account attributes, attackers can mark their own accounts as email-verified without owning the address (bypassing email-gated functionality) and award themselves upload, streaming, and meeting-creation permissions, circumventing administrator access controls that intentionally restrict these capabilities for new users. This issue has been fixed in version 29.0

ClearanceKit intercepts file-system access events on macOS and enforces per-process access policies. Prior to version 4.2.4, two file operation event types — ES_EVENT_TYPE_AUTH_EXCHANGEDATA and ES_EVENT_TYPE_AUTH_CLONE — were not intercepted by ClearanceKit's opfilter system extension, allowing local processes to bypass file access policies. ClearanceKit intercepts file-system access events on macOS and enforces per-process access policies. In versions on the 4.1 branch and earlier, the opfilter Endpoint Security system extension enforced file access policy exclusively by intercepting ES_EVENT_TYPE_AUTH_OPEN events. Seven additional file operation event types were not intercepted, allowing any locally running process to bypass the configured FAA policy without triggering a denial. Commit a3d1733 adds subscriptions for all seven event types and routes them through the existing FAA policy evaluator. AUTH_RENAME and AUTH_UNLINK additionally preserve XProtect change detection: events on the XProtect path are allowed and trigger the existing onXProtectChanged callback rather than being evaluated against user policy. All versions on the 4.2 branch contain the fix. No known workarounds are available.

Architecture and Design
  • Divide the product into anonymous, normal, privileged, and administrative areas. Reduce the attack surface by carefully mapping roles with data and functionality. Use role-based access control (RBAC) [REF-229] to enforce the roles at the appropriate boundaries.
  • Note that this approach may not protect against horizontal authorization, i.e., it will not protect a user from attacking others with the same role.

Ensure that access control checks are performed related to the business logic. These checks may be different than the access control checks that are applied to more generic resources such as files, connections, processes, memory, and database records. For example, a database may restrict access for medical records to a specific database user, but each record might only be intended to be accessible to the patient and the patient's doctor [REF-7].

Strategy: Libraries or Frameworks

  • Use a vetted library or framework that does not allow this weakness to occur or provides constructs that make this weakness easier to avoid.
  • For example, consider using authorization frameworks such as the JAAS Authorization Framework [REF-233] and the OWASP ESAPI Access Control feature [REF-45].

  • For web applications, make sure that the access control mechanism is enforced correctly at the server side on every page. Users should not be able to access any unauthorized functionality or information by simply requesting direct access to that page.
  • One way to do this is to ensure that all pages containing sensitive information are not cached, and that all such pages restrict access to requests that are accompanied by an active and authenticated session token associated with a user who has the required permissions to access that page.

Use the access control capabilities of your operating system and server environment and define your access control lists accordingly. Use a "default deny" policy when defining these ACLs.

CAPEC-665: Exploitation of Thunderbolt Protection Flaws

An adversary leverages a firmware weakness within the Thunderbolt protocol, on a computing device to manipulate Thunderbolt controller firmware in order to exploit vulnerabilities in the implementation of authorization and verification schemes within Thunderbolt protection mechanisms. Upon gaining physical access to a target device, the adversary conducts high-level firmware manipulation of the victim Thunderbolt controller SPI (Serial Peripheral Interface) flash, through the use of a SPI Programing device and an external Thunderbolt device, typically as the target device is booting up. If successful, this allows the adversary to modify memory, subvert authentication mechanisms, spoof identities and content, and extract data and memory from the target device. Currently 7 major vulnerabilities exist within Thunderbolt protocol with 9 attack vectors as noted in the Execution Flow.
