Title
IB/hfi1: Fix panic with larger ipoib send_queue_size
Summary
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
IB/hfi1: Fix panic with larger ipoib send_queue_size
When the ipoib send_queue_size is increased from the default the following
panic happens:

The issue happens when the shift that should have been a function of the
txq item size mistakenly used the ring size.
Fix by using the item size.
AV:L - The bug is reached via local IPoIB/hfi1 TX ring indexing on send, drain, or interface stop (rtnetlink/ndo_stop), not by processing remote network packets or adjacent-link frames.
AC:L - On a system already configured with a larger-than-default ib_ipoib send_queue_size (common HPC tuning), bringing the interface down or sending enough packets reliably drives the wrong shift into out-of-bounds accesses with no race or attacker-uncontrollable timing.
PR:L - An ordinary local user can trigger the same bad indexing by transmitting over an up IPoIB interface; the documented stop path only needs CAP_NET_ADMIN, which is also obtainable in a user+net namespace for devices present in that netns.
UI:N - The attacker triggers the vulnerable send or interface-stop path themselves; no separate victim action such as mounting media or opening a crafted file is required.
S:U - Impact is kernel memory corruption or panic within the host kernel's authority; this is not a VM escape, IOMMU bypass, or other security-boundary cross.
C:H - Wrong ring indexing yields out-of-bounds reads of ipoib_txreq fields (including skb and sdma state) past the kcalloc'd ring into adjacent kernel memory, enabling information disclosure.
I:H - hfi1_ipoib_drain_tx_ring and the send path perform out-of-bounds writes through the mis-shifted pointers (complete/skb/sdma_txclean), which can corrupt adjacent heap objects and enable control-flow hijacking.
A:H - The mis-indexed drain path page-faults and panics the kernel (as in the reported hfi1_ipoib_drain_tx_ring oops), fully denying availability even without a complete exploit.
A:H - The mis-indexed drain path page-faults and panics the kernel (as in the reported hfi1_ipoib_drain_tx_ring oops), fully denying availability even without a complete exploit."

The MITRE ATT&CK techniques below are AI-generated suggestions, inferred from the description of the
vulnerability by the CIRCL/vulnerability-attack-technique-classification-roberta-base
model, served locally by ML-Gateway.
They have not been verified by an analyst and are provided for guidance only.
The approach is described in our paper Mapping CVEs to MITRE ATT&CK Techniques: A Curated Gold-Set Classifier and the Limits of LLM-Assisted Label Expansion.

Related by attack behaviour
Vulnerabilities whose description is nearest to this one in the vector space of the CIRCL/vulnerability-attack-technique-biencoder model. This is a similarity search over the bi-encoder space (plain cosine), not a classification, and it has no measured accuracy.
