AV:N - `trace_drop_common()` is reached from the NET_RX softirq drop paths in `ip_rcv`/`udp_rcv`/netfilter via `kfree_skb_reason()` → `trace_kfree_skb()`, so any remote peer sending packets that get dropped (bad checksum, no listener, unknown protocol, firewall DROP) drives the vulnerable code. Per kernel guidance, net/ stack bugs reachable via received packets are Network.
AC:L - Every single dropped skb deterministically enters `local_irq_save()` + `rt_spin_lock()` on an RT kernel, and the attacker fully controls both the trigger rate and the lock contention against the alert timer/worker by flooding drops. Prior kernel-CNA scoring of PREEMPT_RT sleeping-in-atomic fixes (CVE-2024-56585, CVE-2024-50249) treats the RT build as the vulnerable configuration rather than an AC:H condition.
PR:N - The attacker needs no account or credentials — merely sending packets that the stack drops is enough. The `CAP_NET_ADMIN`-in-`init_user_ns` check on `NET_DM_CMD_START` gates the operator's own monitoring action (running `dropwatch`), which is an environmental precondition of the vulnerable state, not a privilege the attacker must obtain.
UI:N - Once drop monitoring is active, no victim action is required — the packets the attacker sends are themselves sufficient to enter `trace_drop_common()`. No file, mount, or user-triggered operation is involved.
S:U - The faulting context, the corrupted preempt/RCU nesting state, and the resulting hang all live entirely within the kernel's own security authority. No VM, IOMMU, or sandbox boundary is crossed.
C:N - The fix changes only the lock type; `data->skb`, the netlink message construction, and every byte of data handling are identical before and after. No out-of-bounds read, freed-memory read, or uninitialised data reaches the attacker.
I:N - No memory is corrupted, overwritten, or type-confused — `raw_spin_lock` provides the same mutual exclusion as `spin_lock` did, so no attacker-influenced data modification is possible. There is no write primitive or control-flow hijack.
A:H - On PREEMPT_RT, `rt_spin_lock()` under `local_irq_save()` is sleeping in atomic context — it emits a "BUG: sleeping function called from invalid context" splat (immediate panic under `panic_on_warn`), and on contention calls `schedule_rtlock()` with hard IRQs disabled, corrupting preempt/RCU nesting and hanging the CPU. This is remotely repeatable at packet rate.
This is remotely repeatable at packet rate."

How durations are calculated
Following the VTEM framework (Black Hat USA 2015), time to patch starts when the vendor or a coordinator was informed, total time to patch at discovery, and disclosure to patch at public disclosure; vendor response time runs from the report to its acknowledgement. Time to exploit and time unpatched start at the earliest discovery or report, falling back to public disclosure. Unpatched time ends at the first recorded patch, or the calculation time when no patch is recorded. Exploitation to patch shows the interval between those two events; a published proof of concept is a public exploit, not exploitation.
Each result shows its source dates. A negative interval means the end event came first; when date-only inputs leave the order open, the result says so. Date-only inputs are approximate. The earliest evidence wins: KEV report dates and sightings are labelled as such. Records describing another vulnerability are listed but never calculated from, and a PoC alone does not establish exploitation. Missing patch evidence does not prove that no patch exists. Filters below change the event list only.
