Summary
Red Hat Security Advisory: Red Hat build of Keycloak 26.6.9 Images Security Update
Severity
Important
Notes
Topic: New images are available for Red Hat build of Keycloak 26.6.9 and Red Hat build of Keycloak 26.6.9 Operator, running on OpenShift Container Platform
Details: Red Hat build of Keycloak is an integrated sign-on solution, available as a Red Hat JBoss Middleware for OpenShift containerized image. The Red Hat build of Keycloak for OpenShift image provides an authentication server that you can use to log in centrally, log out, and register. You can also manage user accounts for web applications, mobile applications, and RESTful web services. Red Hat build of Keycloak Operator for OpenShift simplifies deployment and management of Keycloak 26.6.9 clusters. This erratum releases new images for Red Hat build of Keycloak 26.6.9 for use within the OpenShift Container Platform cloud computing Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) for on-premise or private cloud deployments, aligning with the standalone product release. Security fixes: * SAML redirect binding signature bypass via percent-encoded parameter names (CVE-2026-117691)

A flaw was found in the SAML HTTP-Redirect binding implementation of Keycloak. The issue occurs because the server processes percent-encoded parameter names (like %53AMLResponse) while the signature verification logic only checks literal parameter names. An attacker can use this discrepancy to provide a crafted, unsigned SAML message that the server processes instead of a legitimately signed one, leading to full account takeover of federated users.

CWE-347 - Improper Verification of Cryptographic Signature

The issue occurs because the server processes percent-encoded parameter names (like %53AMLResponse) while the signature verification logic only checks literal parameter names. An attacker can use this discrepancy to provide a crafted, unsigned SAML message that the server processes instead of a legitimately signed one, leading to full account takeover of federated users.",

This content was generated utilizing AI tools in conjunction with data from https://cmetaxonomy.org. Customers are advised to independently evaluate and test these temporary mitigations within their own infrastructure.\n\nThe highest-value action is to align query parameter parsing between signature verification and request processing in Keycloak\u0027s SAML HTTP-Redirect binding so percent-encoded parameter names cannot evade signature checks: upgrade to the fixed Rhbk/Keycloak Rhel/Keycloak Services builds, which eliminates the parsing discrepancy between raw query parameter signature verification and decoded parameter processing in the SAML redirect binding, closing crafted HTTP GET request containing a percent-encoded unsigned SAML parameter placed before a legitimately signed parameter. Until patched, this is a concern on Keycloak instances configured to use SAML HTTP-Redirect binding for federated identity, so Audit and restrict account registration on external Identity Providers to prevent attackers from capturing legitimately signed redirect-binding messages. These controls limit blast radius and contain exploitation, but they do not fix the underlying SAML parameter parsing discrepancy signature bypass \u2014 apply the upstream patch to fully remediate.",

Drag nodes to arrange them. Double-click a related vulnerability to open it, or a source to visit its link. The Physics button on the left tunes the layout and the simulation; the legend at the bottom left hides or shows nodes by kind and by sighting type.

Forecast uses a logistic model when the trend is rising, or an exponential decay model when the trend is falling. Fitted via linearized least squares.

Nomenclature

  • Seen: The vulnerability was mentioned, discussed, or observed by the user.
  • Confirmed: The vulnerability has been validated from an analyst's perspective.
  • Published Proof of Concept: A public proof of concept is available for this vulnerability.
  • Exploited: The vulnerability was observed as exploited by the user who reported the sighting.
  • Patched: The vulnerability was observed as successfully patched by the user who reported the sighting.
  • Not exploited: The vulnerability was not observed as exploited by the user who reported the sighting.
  • Not confirmed: The user expressed doubt about the validity of the vulnerability.
  • Not patched: The vulnerability was not observed as successfully patched by the user who reported the sighting.

How durations are calculated

Following the VTEM framework (Black Hat USA 2015), time to patch starts when the vendor or a coordinator was informed, total time to patch at discovery, and disclosure to patch at public disclosure; vendor response time runs from the report to its acknowledgement. Time to exploit and time unpatched start at the earliest discovery or report, falling back to public disclosure. Unpatched time ends at the first recorded patch, or the calculation time when no patch is recorded. Exploitation to patch shows the interval between those two events; a published proof of concept is a public exploit, not exploitation.

Each result shows its source dates. A negative interval means the end event came first; when date-only inputs leave the order open, the result says so. Date-only inputs are approximate. The earliest evidence wins: KEV report dates and sightings are labelled as such. Records describing another vulnerability are listed but never calculated from, and a PoC alone does not establish exploitation. Missing patch evidence does not prove that no patch exists. Filters below change the event list only.

    Related by attack behaviour

Vulnerabilities whose description is nearest to this one in the vector space of the CIRCL/vulnerability-attack-technique-biencoder model. This is a similarity search over the bi-encoder space (plain cosine), not a classification, and it has no measured accuracy.
