In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:

af_unix: Drop all SCM attributes for SOCKMAP.

SOCKMAP can hide inflight fd from AF_UNIX GC.

When a socket in SOCKMAP receives skb with inflight fd,
sk_psock_verdict_data_ready() looks up the mapped socket and
enqueue skb to its psock->ingress_skb.

Since neither the old nor the new GC can inspect the psock
queue, the hidden skb leaks the inflight sockets. Note that
this cannot be detected via kmemleak because inflight sockets
are linked to a global list.

In addition, SOCKMAP redirect breaks the Tarjan-based GC's
assumption that unix_edge.successor is always alive, which
is no longer true once skb is redirected, resulting in
use-after-free below.
AV:L - The vulnerable AF_UNIX SOCKMAP path is reached through local syscalls such as bpf(), socketpair(), map update/attach, and sendmsg() with SCM_RIGHTS; remote network peers cannot pass AF_UNIX file descriptors into this path.
AC:L - The attacker can create the sockets, install the SOCKMAP verdict redirect, send SCM_RIGHTS, and close/tear down the involved sockets; any timing involved is under attacker control.
PR:L - Triggering requires creating/attaching SK_SKB SOCKMAP BPF objects, gated by CAP_BPF/CAP_NET_ADMIN or delegated BPF token access. In a reasonable namespaced/delegated BPF deployment this is low privilege rather than host-root-only.
UI:N - No victim action is required after the attacker has local access and the needed BPF privileges; the trigger is entirely attacker-driven.
S:U - The vulnerability is in the host kernel AF_UNIX/SOCKMAP implementation and impacts the same kernel security authority. This is standard kernel memory corruption/DoS rather than a hypervisor or device isolation boundary escape.
C:H - The bug produces a use-after-free on AF_UNIX socket/SCM graph state after SOCKMAP hides redirected skb SCM attributes. Per kernel scoring guidance, UAF memory corruption is treated as capable of high confidentiality impact.
I:H - The freed socket/graph state can be reused while kernel GC follows stale pointers, making this memory corruption potentially exploitable beyond a simple crash. Per guidance, UAF is scored as high integrity impact.
A:H - The reported failure is a KASAN slab-use-after-free in AF_UNIX GC/workqueue processing, and the hidden inflight-fd skb state can also leak socket references. This can cause kernel oops/panic or sustained resource exhaustion.
AV:L - The vulnerable path is a DRM accel ioctl on the local `/dev/accel/accel*` device, reached through `DRM_IOCTL_IVPU_METRIC_STREAMER_GET_INFO`. It is not reachable over the network or by adjacent/physical input.
AC:L - The attacker controls the ioctl arguments, including the metric group mask and user buffer size, and there is no race or hard-to-win timing condition. Triggering the overlong copy depends on normal firmware response data for selected metrics, not on conditions outside the attacker’s control in the vulnerable path.
PR:L - A local user with access to the accelerator device node can open the device and issue the ioctl; the driver ioctl has no capability, master, or root-only check. This does not require real root/admin privileges.
UI:N - After the attacker has local access to the device node, exploitation is performed directly by issuing ioctls. No victim action such as opening a file or mounting a filesystem is required.
S:U - The issue is within the kernel driver and impacts kernel-managed resources on the same system. It is not a VM escape, IOMMU boundary bypass, or cross-authority scope change.
C:H - The firmware-reported `info_size` was used as the `copy_to_user()` length without verifying it fits in the fixed 64 KiB kernel buffer, enabling an out-of-bounds kernel read into userspace. Under the higher-severity rule, this is treated as high confidentiality impact because adjacent kernel memory may be disclosed.
I:N - The vulnerable host-side operation is an overlong copy from kernel memory to userspace, and the fix prevents that incorrect buffer copy. No kernel write primitive or data modification path is evident from this bug.
A:H - An overlong kernel-source copy can run past the mapped buffer into invalid or sensitive kernel virtual memory and may fault or destabilize the kernel. Under the required higher-severity rule, the plausible local DoS impact is scored high.
AV:L - The vulnerable close handler is reached from local userspace through the Xe DRM render-node ioctl path that opens an EU stall observation stream fd, then close/release on that fd. It is not reachable from network or adjacent protocols.
AC:L - Once an EU stall stream fd exists, the vulnerable cleanup ordering is exercised by closing that fd; there is no attacker-uncontrolled race to win in the close path itself. The final-reference lifetime condition is a normal DRM device lifetime state rather than a precise timing primitive.
PR:L - The default `xe_observation_paranoid` gate requires `CAP_PERFMON` or `CAP_SYS_ADMIN`, but the driver explicitly provides a sysctl allowing non-privileged users to access observation data. Under the required most-severe reasonable deployment rule, a basic local user with render-node access can reach the stream open/close path.
UI:N - No victim interaction is needed after the attacker can issue the ioctl and close the returned stream fd. The attacker drives the relevant userspace operations directly.
S:U - The vulnerable code is in the host kernel DRM driver and impacts the same kernel security authority. There is no evidence of a VM, IOMMU, or separate security-scope boundary crossing.
C:H - This is a use-after-free of DRM/Xe device-related structures before subsequent cleanup dereferences them. Per kernel CVSS guidance, UAF memory corruption is treated as capable of enabling high confidentiality impact through reclaimed-object control and memory disclosure primitives.
I:H - The UAF occurs before hardware stream disable, buffer teardown, and stream free operations continue through freed object graphs. Per kernel CVSS guidance, such UAF memory corruption is treated as potentially enabling arbitrary write or control-flow compromise.
A:H - At minimum, dereferencing freed device structures in the close path can cause a kernel oops or panic. UAFs in kernel cleanup paths are therefore high availability impact.
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:

drm/virtio: use uninterruptible resv lock for plane updates

virtio_gpu_cursor_plane_update() and virtio_gpu_resource_flush() lock
the framebuffer BO's dma_resv via virtio_gpu_array_lock_resv() and
ignore its return value. The function can fail with -EINTR from
dma_resv_lock_interruptible() (signal during lock wait) or with
-ENOMEM from dma_resv_reserve_fences() (fence slot allocation),
leaving the resv lock not held. The queue path then walks the object
array and calls dma_resv_add_fence(), which requires the lock held;
with lockdep enabled this trips dma_resv_assert_held():

WARNING: drivers/dma-buf/dma-resv.c:296 at dma_resv_add_fence+0x71e/0x840
Call Trace:
virtio_gpu_array_add_fence
virtio_gpu_queue_ctrl_sgs
virtio_gpu_queue_fenced_ctrl_buffer
virtio_gpu_cursor_plane_update
drm_atomic_helper_commit_planes
drm_atomic_helper_commit_tail
commit_tail
drm_atomic_helper_commit
drm_atomic_commit
drm_atomic_helper_update_plane
__setplane_atomic
drm_mode_cursor_universal
drm_mode_cursor_common
drm_mode_cursor_ioctl
drm_ioctl
__x64_sys_ioctl

Beyond the WARN, mutating the dma_resv fence list without the lock
races with concurrent readers/writers and can corrupt the list.

Both call sites run inside the .atomic_update plane callback, which
DRM atomic helpers do not allow to fail (by the time it runs, the
commit has been signed off to userspace and there is no clean
rollback path). Moving the lock acquisition to .prepare_fb was
rejected because the broader lock scope deadlocks against other BO
locking paths in the same atomic commit.

Introduce virtio_gpu_lock_one_resv_uninterruptible() that uses
dma_resv_lock() instead of dma_resv_lock_interruptible(). This
eliminates the -EINTR failure mode -- the realistic syzbot trigger
-- without extending the lock hold across the commit. The helper
locks a single BO and rejects nents > 1 with -EINVAL; both fix
sites lock exactly one BO.

Use it from virtio_gpu_cursor_plane_update() and
virtio_gpu_resource_flush(); check the return value to handle the
remaining -ENOMEM case from dma_resv_reserve_fences() by freeing
the objs and skipping the plane update for that frame. The
framebuffer BOs touched here are not shared with other contexts
and lock contention is expected to be brief, so the loss of
signal-interruptibility is acceptable.

Other callers of virtio_gpu_array_lock_resv() (the ioctl paths)
continue to use the interruptible variant.

The bug was reported by syzbot, triggered via fault injection
(fail_nth) on the DRM_IOCTL_MODE_CURSOR path, which forces the
-ENOMEM branch in dma_resv_reserve_fences().
AV:L - The vulnerable code is reached only through local DRM ioctl syscalls (DRM_IOCTL_MODE_CURSOR and DRM_MASTER modesetting ioctls) on /dev/dri/card0, not via any network-facing kernel service.
AC:L - An attacker can reliably trigger the bug by signaling a thread blocked in dma_resv_lock_interruptible (-EINTR), forcing memory pressure for -ENOMEM, or running concurrent plane updates to race the unlocked fence-list mutation.
PR:L - Exploitation requires DRM master on the virtio-gpu device, which a local user with standard DRI access (video/render group membership on typical virtio-gpu VMs) can obtain when no compositor holds master; this is not init-namespace root.
UI:N - Triggering the bug requires only attacker-initiated DRM ioctl calls (cursor/plane updates); no action by another user or victim is needed.
S:U - The corruption occurs within the same kernel security domain (guest or host) that issued the ioctl; virtio-gpu runs in the guest kernel and this does not cross a VM/hypervisor boundary to the host.
C:H - Mutating the dma_resv fence list without holding the lock races with concurrent readers and can corrupt kernel heap metadata, which is reasonably leverageable for arbitrary memory disclosure.
I:H - The same unlocked fence-list corruption can corrupt kernel pointers and synchronization state, providing a plausible path to arbitrary kernel writes or control-flow hijacking.
A:H - The bug produces kernel WARN/oops under lockdep and fence-list corruption can cause kernel crashes, hangs, or panics during subsequent dma_resv operations.
AV:L - The flaw is reached only through the AMDGPU_CS DRM ioctl on a local render node (/dev/dri/renderD*); there is no network, adjacent-radio, or physical-device path to the VCE command-stream parser.
AC:L - On affected AMD GPUs using physical-mode VCE parsing, an attacker fully controls the IB and can set create-command dimensions (e.g., 65536x65536) to deterministically overflow the 32-bit size to zero without races or uncontrollable layout conditions.
PR:L - Exploitation requires only unprivileged local access to the amdgpu DRM render node; AMDGPU_CS is gated by DRM_AUTH|DRM_RENDER_ALLOW with no root, DRM-master, or non-namespace capability requirement.
UI:N - No victim interaction is needed beyond the attacker submitting crafted VCE command buffers through their own render-node context; no third party must open files or take other actions.
S:C - Bypassing size-based BO relocation/validation lets VCE firmware DMA outside the intended buffer boundaries, crossing the GPU memory-isolation boundary that kernel validation is meant to enforce on GART/VRAM mappings.
C:H - With validation defeated, VCE firmware can read arbitrarily beyond undersized encode/context/MV buffers, exposing other GPU-accessible memory including GTT-mapped system memory and adjacent VRAM allocations.
I:H - The same out-of-bounds VCE firmware accesses enable arbitrary writes to GPU-mapped memory beyond validated buffers, providing memory-corruption primitives suitable for privilege escalation or control-flow influence.
A:H - Oversized VCE operations against undersized buffers can trigger GPU page faults, engine hangs, GPU resets, or broader system disruption that the attacker can repeat via further command submissions."

Device header callbacks are allowed to reallocate the
skb head, invalidating pointers into it.

This can happen when a send is blocked in copy_from_user() while the first
non-Ethernet port is added to an empty team device. The team's delegated
GRE header callback then expands the skb head. PPPoE subsequently writes
six bytes through the stale pointer into the freed head.

Reload the PPPoE header through the skb's network-header offset after
device header creation. pskb_expand_head() updates that offset when it
relocates the head.
AV:L - The bug is in pppoe_sendmsg(), reached only via the local sendmsg() syscall on a PF_PPPOX/PPPoE socket; it is not triggered by remote packet reception or in-kernel PPP transmit paths such as __pppoe_xmit().
AC:L - Exploitation requires a race between copy_from_user() blocking in sendmsg and changing team header_ops (e.g., adding the first non-Ethernet GRE port), which an attacker can drive with concurrent threads and retries rather than uncontrollable timing.
PR:L - PPPoE sockets can be created without special privileges, and configuring the team/GRE topology needed to trigger dev_hard_header() head expansion is achievable with CAP_NET_ADMIN inside an unprivileged user/network namespace (unshare -Urn).
UI:N - No victim interaction is required; exploitation is fully attacker-driven through socket I/O and netlink/rtnl configuration of the team device.
S:U - Impact is kernel heap corruption and privilege escalation within the same kernel security authority, not a cross-boundary escape such as guest-to-host VM breakout or IOMMU bypass.
C:H - Writing PPPoE header fields through a stale pointer after pskb_expand_head() frees the old skb head is a slab use-after-free; freed kmalloc objects can be reclaimed for sensitive data, enabling arbitrary kernel memory disclosure.
I:H - The post-dev_hard_header() memcpy/ph->length stores up to eight attacker-influenced bytes into freed skb head memory, providing a heap corruption primitive that can be developed into arbitrary kernel writes or code execution.
A:H - Use-after-free writes into freed slab memory commonly cause kernel oops/panic and can be triggered repeatedly via sendmsg, yielding persistent denial of service even when full exploitation is not attempted.
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:

drm/xe: Hold a dma-buf reference for imported BOs

An imported dma-buf BO is created as a ttm_bo_type_sg BO whose
reservation object is the exporter's dma_buf->resv. The importer,
however, only takes a dma-buf reference after a successful
dma_buf_dynamic_attach(). Until then nothing keeps the exporter alive,
so if the exporter is freed while the BO still references its resv, a
later access to that resv is a use-after-free:

Oops: general protection fault, probably for non-canonical address
0x6b6b6b6b6b6b6b9c
Workqueue: ttm ttm_bo_delayed_delete [ttm]
RIP: 0010:mutex_can_spin_on_owner+0x3f/0xc0

This can be reached on two paths:

- dma_buf_dynamic_attach() fails, or
- ttm_bo_init_reserved() fails during BO creation.

In both cases the BO already has bo->base.resv pointing at the exporter
resv, and sg BOs are always torn down via ttm_bo_delayed_delete(), which
locks bo->base.resv asynchronously - potentially after the exporter has
been freed.

Take the dma-buf reference in xe_bo_init_locked(), before
ttm_bo_init_reserved(), so it also covers a creation failure there, and
release it in xe_ttm_bo_destroy(). The reference is held for the whole
BO lifetime, keeping the shared resv alive on every path.

v2:
- Reworked the fix to avoid creating the imported sg BO before
dma_buf_dynamic_attach() succeeds.
- Attach with importer_priv == NULL and make invalidate_mappings ignore
incomplete imports.

v3:
- Dropped the xe-side reordering approach since importer_priv must be
valid when dma_buf_dynamic_attach() publishes the attachment.
- Per Christian's suggestion on the v1 thread, keyed the check on
import_attach rather than removing the sg guard entirely.
- Fixes both xe and amdgpu in a single TTM patch.

v4:
- Moved import_attach check to after dma_resv_copy_fences() so fences
are copied before returning for successful imports (Thomas).
- Removed exporter-alive claim from commit message (Thomas).

v5:
- Add drm/xe patch to keep imported sg BOs off the LRU before attach
succeeds; the TTM fix alone is not sufficient for xe if the BO is
already LRU-visible. (Thomas)
v4 patch:
https://patchwork.freedesktop.org/patch/736663/?series=169129&rev=2
- Patch 1 (drm/ttm) carries Christian's Reviewed-by from v4.

v6:
- Reworked the fix based on Thomas' suggestion. Instead of the TTM resv
individualization (v1-v5) plus the xe off-LRU/placement handling (v5),
just hold a dma-buf reference for the imported BO lifetime so the
shared resv can never be freed while the BO still references it.
Single xe patch, no TTM change. (Thomas)
- Take the reference in xe_bo_init_locked() before ttm_bo_init_reserved()
so a TTM creation failure is covered too (Thomas).
- Dropped the v5 series (drm/ttm + drm/xe off-LRU); the off-LRU approach
also regressed in CI BAT via ttm_bo_pipeline_gutting() creating a ghost
BO that outlived the exporter.
Link to v5: https://patchwork.freedesktop.org/series/169984/

v7:
- Move changelog above --- so it stays in the commit message.
- Reorder changelog entries oldest-to-newest. No condition outside their control is needed.
PR:L - DRM_IOCTL_PRIME_FD_TO_HANDLE is marked DRM_RENDER_ALLOW, so any unprivileged local user holding the normally world/group-accessible render node (any GUI user on a distro, any app on Android/ChromeOS) can perform the import; no capabilities are checked.
UI:N - The entire sequence — export a dma-buf, import it into xe, close the fd — is performed by the attacker's own process; no victim action or cooperation is required.
S:U - The use-after-free occurs on kernel heap memory within the same kernel security authority; there is no crossing of a VM, IOMMU, or sandbox boundary.
C:H - The freed dma_buf/dma_resv is a slab object the attacker can reclaim with sprayed content before ttm_bo_delayed_delete() dereferences it, so the stale bo->base.resv can be aimed at attacker-chosen kernel addresses and the resulting ww_mutex/fence walks leaked back, giving arbitrary kernel memory disclosure.
I:H - dma_resv_lock()/dma_resv_unlock() and the subsequent ttm_bo_cleanup_memtype_use() perform writes and list manipulation through the dangling pointer into reclaimed heap memory, so the UAF yields a controllable write primitive usable for control-flow hijacking and privilege escalation.
A:H - Even unexploited, the flaw reliably produces a kernel oops — the reported general protection fault on poisoned memory in mutex_can_spin_on_owner() from the ttm workqueue — which is a fatal fault in kernel worker context and takes down the GPU stack or the whole machine.
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:

drm/amdgpu: Fix context pstate override handling

There are several problems in the context pstate handling code.

The most serious ones are potential use-after-free and NULL pointer
dereferences at context initialization time. Both are due
amdgpu_ctx_init() not holding the adev->pm.stable_pstate_ctx_lock, which
is otherwise used from both sysfs and the context code itself for
modifying and clearing the stored context pointer.

Second issue is that context fini can trample over the pstate
configuration set via sysfs. This is due the restore state
(ctx->stable_pstate) being saved at context init time, and not if, or when
the context actually changes the pstate. As the context exits it will
therefore incorrectly restore to what was set before the sysfs override
was requested.

The simplest fix is to drastically simplify how the state is tracked, by
clearly defining the points at which pstate ownership is taken and
released, and to handle all transitions under the correct lock.

Instead of at context init time, the previous state is saved only at the
point the context overrides the current state, and is restored on context
exit only if the context is still the owner of the current override state.

(cherry picked from commit 1b5e413713c0a93bc1818394d0ce49aaad21bd27)
AV:L - The bug is reached only through the DRM_IOCTL_AMDGPU_CTX ioctl on a local /dev/dri/renderD* or card* node (registered DRM_AUTH|DRM_RENDER_ALLOW in amdgpu_drv.c:3063), and the racing writer is the local sysfs power_dpm_force_performance_level path. No network or adjacent-network path reaches amdgpu context pstate handling.
AC:L - The attacker owns both sides of the race — one thread loops AMDGPU_CTX_OP_SET_STABLE_PSTATE and context free while another loops AMDGPU_CTX_OP_ALLOC_CTX — and can retry indefinitely. The dangling-pointer variant (fini re-assigning adev->pm.stable_pstate_ctx = ctx just before kfree) needs no race at all: once latched, every later context creation dereferences freed memory deterministically.
PR:L - No capability or authorization check exists anywhere on the path (amdgpu_ctx_ioctl -> amdgpu_ctx_alloc/amdgpu_ctx_stable_pstate -> amdgpu_ctx_init); an unprivileged local user only needs an open render node fd, which is routinely granted to desktop users in the render/video group, to containers, sandboxed GPU processes, and to ordinary apps on Android/Chrome OS.
UI:N - The attacker triggers everything with its own ioctls on its own file descriptors and its own threads; no action by another user or administrator is required, and the crash or freed-object read happens synchronously in the attacker's own syscall.
S:U - The corrupted state (adev->pm.stable_pstate_ctx and the freed struct amdgpu_ctx) and all consequences stay within the kernel of the machine running the amdgpu driver; no VM, IOMMU, or sandbox security boundary is crossed.
C:H - amdgpu_ctx_init() dereferences a stale adev->pm.stable_pstate_ctx pointer after the context has been kfree()d, reading a field out of a freed kmalloc object that the attacker can reclaim and control via heap spraying; per kernel scoring guidance a use-after-free is treated as High since freed-object access can be leveraged toward kernel memory disclosure.
I:H - The unlocked read/write of the global pstate-owner pointer leaves a dangling kernel pointer in adev->pm.stable_pstate_ctx and lets a freed, attacker-reclaimable object drive amdgpu_dpm_force_performance_level(); the commit also documents context teardown trampling the DPM configuration set through root-only sysfs, so an unprivileged user corrupts privileged device state.
A:H - The unlocked check-then-use of adev->pm.stable_pstate_ctx yields a NULL pointer dereference when a concurrent fini or sysfs write clears it, and the stale-pointer case faults on freed or unmapped slab memory — either produces a kernel oops and a wedged GPU, repeatable at will by an unprivileged local user."
