RHSA-2009_0057
Vulnerability from csaf_redhat - Published: 2009-01-19 21:16 - Updated: 2024-11-22 02:27A certain Red Hat patch for SquirrelMail 1.4.8 sets the same SQMSESSID cookie value for all sessions, which allows remote authenticated users to access other users' folder lists and configuration data in opportunistic circumstances by using the standard webmail.php interface. NOTE: this vulnerability exists because of an incorrect fix for CVE-2008-3663.

"text": "SquirrelMail is an easy-to-configure, standards-based, webmail package\nwritten in PHP. It includes built-in PHP support for the IMAP and SMTP\nprotocols, and pure HTML 4.0 page-rendering (with no JavaScript required)\nfor maximum browser-compatibility, strong MIME support, address books, and\nfolder manipulation.\n\nThe Red Hat SquirrelMail packages provided by the RHSA-2009:0010 advisory\nintroduced a session handling flaw. Users who logged back into SquirrelMail\nwithout restarting their web browsers were assigned fixed session\nidentifiers. A remote attacker could make use of that flaw to hijack user\nsessions. (CVE-2009-0030)\n\nSquirrelMail users should upgrade to this updated package, which contains a\npatch to correct this issue. As well, all users who used affected versions\nof SquirrelMail should review their preferences.",

Nomenclature
- Seen: The vulnerability was mentioned, discussed, or observed by the user.
- Confirmed: The vulnerability has been validated from an analyst's perspective.
- Published Proof of Concept: A public proof of concept is available for this vulnerability.
- Exploited: The vulnerability was observed as exploited by the user who reported the sighting.
- Patched: The vulnerability was observed as successfully patched by the user who reported the sighting.
- Not exploited: The vulnerability was not observed as exploited by the user who reported the sighting.
- Not confirmed: The user expressed doubt about the validity of the vulnerability.
- Not patched: The vulnerability was not observed as successfully patched by the user who reported the sighting.
The approach is described in our paper Mapping CVEs to MITRE ATT&CK Techniques: A Curated Gold-Set Classifier and the Limits of LLM-Assisted Label Expansion.
Browse all ATT&CK techniques and the vulnerabilities related to each.
Related by attack behaviour
Vulnerabilities whose description is nearest to this one in the vector space of the CIRCL/vulnerability-attack-technique-biencoder model. This is a similarity search over the bi-encoder space (plain cosine), not a classification, and it has no measured accuracy.
