Summary
Red Hat Security Advisory: OpenShift Container Platform 4.19.27 bug fix and security update
Severity
Moderate
Notes
Topic: Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform release 4.19.27 is now available with updates to packages and images that fix several bugs and add enhancements. This release includes a security update for Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform 4.19. Red Hat Product Security has rated this update as having a security impact of Moderate. A Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS) base score, which gives a detailed severity rating, is available for each vulnerability from the CVE link(s) in the References section.
Details: Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform is Red Hat's cloud computing Kubernetes application platform solution designed for on-premise or private cloud deployments. This advisory contains the container images for Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform 4.19.27. See the following advisory for the RPM packages for this release: https://access.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2026:5876 Space precludes documenting all of the container images in this advisory. See the following Release Notes documentation, which will be updated shortly for this release, for details about these changes: https://docs.redhat.com/en/documentation/openshift_container_platform/4.19/html/release_notes/ Security Fix(es): * nfs-utils: rpc.mountd in the nfs-utils privilege escalation (CVE-2025-12801) For more details about the security issue(s), including the impact, a CVSS score, acknowledgments, and other related information, refer to the CVE page(s) listed in the References section. All OpenShift Container Platform 4.19 users are advised to upgrade to these updated packages and images when they are available in the appropriate release channel. To check for available updates, use the OpenShift CLI (oc) or web console. Instructions for upgrading a cluster are available at https://docs.redhat.com/en/documentation/openshift_container_platform/4.19/html-single/updating_clusters/index#updating-cluster-cli.

A vulnerability was recently discovered in the rpc.mountd daemon in the nfs-utils package for Linux, that allows a NFSv3 client to escalate the privileges assigned to it in the /etc/exports file at mount time. In particular, it allows the client to access any subdirectory or subtree of an exported directory, regardless of the set file permissions, and regardless of any 'root_squash' or 'all_squash' attributes that would normally be expected to apply to that client.

CWE-279 - Incorrect Execution-Assigned Permissions
Vendor Fix For OpenShift Container Platform 4.19 see the following documentation, which will be updated shortly for this release, for important instructions on how to upgrade your cluster and fully apply this asynchronous errata update: https://docs.redhat.com/en/documentation/openshift_container_platform/4.19/html/release_notes/ You may download the oc tool and use it to inspect release image metadata for x86_64, s390x, ppc64le, and aarch64 architectures. The image digests may be found at https://quay.io/repository/openshift-release-dev/ocp-release?tab=tags. The sha values for the release are as follows: (For x86_64 architecture) The image digest is sha256:67559510d25d5024c374d67104b99d88f83746f615fa8232ae778d9e7fec14f8 (For s390x architecture) The image digest is sha256:2d527273c5a7077d815a2a67e7970ea3dedfe13bb4f973eaaf75fb8cc2166235 (For ppc64le architecture) The image digest is sha256:d82500c7d65c17524bea939caf23104b28965311110305220943e131d1797b35 (For aarch64 architecture) The image digest is sha256:434c8a014b3a5c1e936a0aab41cf907048fc6eca75e49a4e78c2b931deedb1cf All OpenShift Container Platform 4.19 users are advised to upgrade to these updated packages and images when they are available in the appropriate release channel. To check for available updates, use the OpenShift CLI (oc) or web console. Instructions for upgrading a cluster are available at https://docs.redhat.com/en/documentation/openshift_container_platform/4.19/html-single/updating_clusters/index#updating-cluster-cli. https://access.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2026:5877
Workaround Mitigation for this issue is either not available or the currently available options do not meet the Red Hat Product Security criteria comprising ease of use and deployment, applicability to widespread installation base or stability.
