AV:N - The vulnerable path is in the net/ stack and is entered purely from data received from a remote J1939 peer — a TP.CM_RTS frame reaches j1939_xtp_rx_rts_session_new() → j1939_session_fresh_new() → j1939_session_new(), and peer-supplied TP.CM_CTS frames drive the drop_old free. J1939 segments are routinely bridged to IP by telematics/gateway units, and the kernel CNA scored the equivalent j1939 RTS reception path in the same file (CVE-2026-22997) as AV:N.
AC:L - The reference-count underflow itself is deterministic — every session created via j1939_session_new() has an under-referenced head skb, and tearing the session down (timeout, abort, or completion) triggers it. Where the premature free is used, the attacker controls both sides of the race by choosing when and how many RTS/CTS frames to inject and can repeat it indefinitely.
PR:N - A peer transmitting J1939 frames needs no credentials, account, or privileges on the target — the stack parses TP.CM_RTS and creates the session automatically. Locally the same defect is reachable from an unprivileged AF_CAN/CAN_J1939 sendmsg(), including over vcan created inside a user namespace.
UI:N - The j1939 receive handler processes incoming frames and allocates the session in softirq context with no action by any local user. The only precondition is a bound j1939 socket, which is the normal steady state of any device using this stack.
S:U - The corrupted objects (sk_buff and its heap slab) and the resulting impact are entirely within the kernel's own security authority. No VM, IOMMU, or sandbox boundary is crossed.
C:H - After the premature free, j1939_session_tx_dat() memcpy()s from the freed skb buffer into outgoing CAN frames, transmitting reclaimed kernel heap contents to the attacker on the bus — a direct read primitive. More generally, an skb use-after-free lets the attacker groom the freed slab and read back kernel memory.
I:H - The refcount underflow yields a use-after-free and double-free of an sk_buff, allowing the attacker to reclaim the freed object with controlled data and corrupt adjacent kernel state — the standard heap-spray primitive for control-flow hijack.
A:H - The underflow triggers refcount_t saturation warnings (fatal under panic_on_warn) and leaks the skb, while the use-after-free/double-free of the queued skb readily oopses the kernel; either can be induced repeatedly by an unauthenticated peer.
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:

ima: don't clear IMA_DIGSIG flag when setting or removing non-IMA xattr

Currently when both IMA and EVM are in fix mode, the IMA signature will
be reset to IMA hash if a program first stores IMA signature in
security.ima and then writes/removes some other security xattr for the
file.

For example, on Fedora, after booting the kernel with "ima_appraise=fix
evm=fix ima_policy=appraise_tcb" and installing rpm-plugin-ima,
installing/reinstalling a package will not make good reference IMA
signature generated. Instead IMA hash is generated,

# getfattr -m - -d -e hex /usr/bin/bash
# file: usr/bin/bash
security.ima=0x0404...

This happens because when setting security.selinux, the IMA_DIGSIG flag
that had been set early was cleared. As a result, IMA hash is generated
when the file is closed.

Similarly, IMA signature can be cleared on file close after removing
security xattr like security.evm or setting/removing ACL.

Prevent replacing the IMA file signature with a file hash, by preventing
the IMA_DIGSIG flag from being reset.

Here's a minimal C reproducer which sets security.selinux as the last
step which can also replaced by removing security.evm or setting ACL,

#include <stdio.h>
#include <sys/xattr.h>
#include <fcntl.h>
#include <unistd.h>
#include <string.h>
#include <stdlib.h>

int main() {
const char* file_path = "/usr/sbin/test_binary";
const char* hex_string = "030204d33204490066306402304";
int length = strlen(hex_string);
char* ima_attr_value;
int fd;

fd = open(file_path, O_WRONLY|O_CREAT|O_EXCL, 0644);
if (fd == -1) {
perror("Error opening file");
return 1;
}

ima_attr_value = (char*)malloc(length / 2 );
for (int i = 0, j = 0; i < length; i += 2, j++) {
sscanf(hex_string + i, "%2hhx", &ima_attr_value[j]);
}

if (fsetxattr(fd, "security.ima", ima_attr_value, length/2, 0) == -1) {
perror("Error setting extended attribute");
close(fd);
return 1;
}

const char* selinux_value= "system_u:object_r:bin_t:s0";
if (fsetxattr(fd, "security.selinux", selinux_value, strlen(selinux_value), 0) == -1) {
perror("Error setting extended attribute");
close(fd);
return 1;
}

close(fd);

return 0;
}
AV:L - Triggering requires local syscalls against a file on the system — `setxattr`/`fsetxattr` on an EVM-protected xattr, `setfacl`, or `fremovexattr` — followed by an open/close of the target file. No network, adjacent-network, or physical path reaches the IMA appraisal hooks.
AC:L - The commit ships a deterministic reproducer: setting any EVM-protected xattr or a POSIX ACL unconditionally clears IMA_DIGSIG every time, with no memory-layout or timing luck involved. The enforce-mode variant needs a race against `process_measurement()`'s `MAY_WRITE` check, but `ima_reset_appraise_flags()` takes no `iint->mutex`, and the attacker drives both sides (one thread spinning on `setxattr("system.posix_acl_access")`, another on `open(O_WRONLY)`); the required IMA-appraise + EVM configuration is a shipped, supported Fedora/RHEL setup, not a rare build option.
PR:L - `vfs_set_acl()` invokes `security_inode_set_acl()` → `ima_inode_set_acl()` → `ima_reset_appraise_flags(inode, 0)` before `set_posix_acl()` ever reaches its `inode_owner_or_capable()` check, so an unprivileged user with no capabilities and no ownership of the file clears the cached IMA_DIGSIG bit on any signed appraised binary — the syscall fails with -EPERM only after the flag is already gone. No CAP_SYS_ADMIN is needed for this path, unlike the `security.ima` path guarded by `ima_protect_xattr()`.
UI:N - The attacker performs the xattr/ACL operation and the file open/close entirely from their own process; no victim must mount a filesystem, open a file, or take any other action for the IMA_DIGSIG flag to be cleared and the signature to be replaced.
S:U - The defeated control (IMA appraisal) and the affected resources (files and their security xattrs) live in the same kernel security authority; no VM, hypervisor, IOMMU, or sandbox boundary is crossed.
C:H - Clearing IMA_DIGSIG both drops the "signed files cannot be opened for write" enforcement at `ima_main.c:472` and lets `ima_update_xattr()` re-bless the modified content with a fresh hash plus EVM HMAC, so attacker-substituted content in an appraised executable passes appraisal and subsequently runs — typically in a privileged/service context — yielding full disclosure of data reachable by that code. This is the standard treatment of a code-integrity/signature-verification bypass; the bug itself contains no direct memory-read primitive.
I:H - The file's IMA digital signature — the one integrity artifact a local attacker cannot forge, since it is verified against the trusted IMA keyring — is silently destroyed and replaced by a locally computed hash written through `__vfs_setxattr_noperm()`, which bypasses the `CAP_SYS_ADMIN` gate in `ima_protect_xattr()`. Combined with the lost write-block, this converts "signed and immutable" into "mutable and re-blessed on close", a complete integrity bypass of IMA appraisal for the affected file.
A:H - Once a signature is replaced by a plain hash, any policy carrying IMA_DIGSIG_REQUIRED (`appraise_type=imasig`) rejects that file in enforce mode, so appraised binaries become permanently unexecutable — applied to system-critical files such as init, sshd, or libc consumers this denies service and can leave the system unbootable, and the corrupted xattr persists on disk until the file is re-signed out of band."

These files are created via
alloc_file_pseudo(), which does not call get_write_access() and leaves
inode->i_writecount at 0. Combined with S_ISREG(inode->i_mode) being
true, they appear as read-only regular files when
CONFIG_READ_ONLY_THP_FOR_FS is enabled, making them eligible for THP
collapse.

Anonymous inodes can never pass the inode_is_open_for_write() check
since their i_writecount is never incremented through the normal VFS
open path. The right thing to do is to exclude them from THP eligibility
altogether, since CONFIG_READ_ONLY_THP_FOR_FS was designed for real
filesystem files (e.g. shared libraries), not for pseudo-filesystem
inodes.

For guest_memfd, this allows khugepaged and MADV_COLLAPSE to create
large folios in the page cache via the collapse path, but the
guest_memfd fault handler does not support large folios. This triggers
WARN_ON_ONCE(folio_test_large(folio)) in kvm_gmem_fault_user_mapping().

For secretmem, collapse_file() tries to copy page contents through the
direct map, but secretmem pages are removed from the direct map. This
can result in a kernel crash:

BUG: unable to handle page fault for address: ffff88810284d000
RIP: 0010:memcpy_orig+0x16/0x130
Call Trace:
collapse_file
hpage_collapse_scan_file
madvise_collapse

Secretmem is not affected by the crash on upstream as the memory failure
recovery handles the failed copy gracefully, but it still triggers
confusing false memory failure reports:

Memory failure: 0x106d96f: recovery action for clean unevictable
LRU page: Recovered

Check IS_ANON_FILE(inode) in file_thp_enabled() to deny THP for all
anonymous inode files.
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:

netfilter: nf_tables: release flowtable after rcu grace period on error

Call synchronize_rcu() after unregistering the hooks from error path,
since a hook that already refers to this flowtable can be already
registered, exposing this flowtable to packet path and nfnetlink_hook
control plane.

This error path is rare, it should only happen by reaching the maximum
number hooks or by failing to set up to hardware offload, just call
synchronize_rcu().

There is a check for already used device hooks by different flowtable
that could result in EEXIST at this late stage. The hook parser can be
updated to perform this check earlier to this error path really becomes
rarely exercised.

Uncovered by KASAN reported as use-after-free from nfnetlink_hook path
when dumping hooks.
AV:L - nftables is accessed via netlink sockets (NFNL_SUBSYS_NFTABLES), requiring local system access through the netlink interface.
AC:L - The attacker controls both sides of the race: they trigger the flowtable creation error path (via duplicate hooks causing EEXIST) and concurrently perform nfnetlink_hook dumps. Since the attacker controls both racing operations, complexity is Low.
PR:L - nftables is reachable from unprivileged user namespaces (unshare -Urn), so only basic unprivileged user access is required.
UI:N - No user interaction is needed; the attacker can trigger the flowtable creation and concurrent hook dump entirely on their own.
S:U - This is a standard kernel use-after-free vulnerability within the same security authority (kernel space); it does not cross a security boundary like a VM escape.
C:H - Use-after-free of the nft_flowtable heap object allows an attacker to control freed object contents via heap spraying, enabling arbitrary kernel memory reads.
I:H - Use-after-free enables heap spraying to place attacker-controlled data in the freed flowtable object, providing arbitrary write primitives and potential control flow hijacking.
A:H - Use-after-free reliably causes kernel crashes (oops/panic) when the freed flowtable memory is accessed by RCU readers on the packet path or nfnetlink_hook dump.
AV:N - The vulnerable H.323/Q.931 conntrack helper parses TCP network traffic, typically on H.323 call signaling flows through a firewall/NAT gateway. A remote peer can supply the malformed TPKT/Q.931 packet once the helper is active for that flow.
AC:L - The trigger is a deterministic zero-length UserUserIE in an otherwise reachable Q.931 message; there is no race or condition outside the attacker's control. TCP establishment and helper deployment are normal operating conditions for the affected subsystem.
PR:N - The attacker only needs to send network traffic to or through a system using the H.323 conntrack helper. No authentication or local privileges are required on the target system.
UI:N - Exploitation occurs during automatic packet processing in the kernel netfilter path. No victim user action is required.
S:U - The vulnerable component and impacted resources are within the same kernel/network filtering security authority. This is not a VM escape, IOMMU bypass, or cross-sandbox boundary violation.
C:H - The integer underflow turns a zero encoded length into a huge decoder length, causing an out-of-bounds read beyond the packet buffer. Under the kernel guidance, an unbounded out-of-bounds read is High confidentiality impact.
I:N - The bug is a read-side parser bounds failure and does not provide an out-of-bounds write, arbitrary write primitive, or direct control-flow corruption. Any resulting malformed conntrack processing is not enough to justify kernel data integrity compromise.
A:H - The out-of-bounds read can fault or otherwise destabilize kernel packet processing, producing an oops/panic or repeated denial of service. A remote attacker can resend malformed packets to retrigger it."

The current code reads
vlan->h_vlan_encapsulated_proto and then pulls VLAN_HLEN bytes without
first ensuring that the full VLAN header is present in the linear area.

If only part of an inner VLAN header is linearized, accessing
h_vlan_encapsulated_proto reads past the linear area, and the following
skb_pull(VLAN_HLEN) may violate skb invariants.

Fix this by requiring pskb_may_pull(skb, VLAN_HLEN) before accessing and
pulling each nested VLAN header. If the header still is not fully
available, drop the packet through the existing error path.
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:

netfilter: ip6t_eui64: reject invalid MAC header for all packets

`eui64_mt6()` derives a modified EUI-64 from the Ethernet source address
and compares it with the low 64 bits of the IPv6 source address.

The existing guard only rejects an invalid MAC header when
`par->fragoff != 0`. For packets with `par->fragoff == 0`, `eui64_mt6()`
can still reach `eth_hdr(skb)` even when the MAC header is not valid.

Fix this by removing the `par->fragoff != 0` condition so that packets
with an invalid MAC header are rejected before accessing `eth_hdr(skb)`.
AV:N - The vulnerable match runs from IPv6 netfilter PREROUTING/LOCAL_IN/FORWARD packet hooks, so a remote peer can reach it by sending IPv6 traffic to or through a host/router with an active eui64 xtables rule on a path with an invalid or absent Ethernet MAC header.
AC:L - There is no race or timing requirement; the attacker can send first-fragment or non-fragment IPv6 packets with controlled header fields, and the active rule/interface combination is a deployment precondition.
PR:N - Although installing the rule requires CAP_NET_ADMIN, in the highest-severity reasonable deployment the eui64 rule is already active and unauthenticated packets trigger the vulnerable packet path without attacker privileges.
UI:N - No victim action is needed after the affected netfilter rule is present; packet delivery alone invokes the match.
S:U - The impact remains within the kernel/networking security authority of the affected system and does not cross a VM, IOMMU, or similar boundary.
C:H - With an unset or invalid MAC header, eth_hdr() can read outside the valid Ethernet header area and those bytes can influence observable netfilter behavior; following the required conservative rule for out-of-bounds reads, confidentiality is High.
I:L - The bug can cause invalid-L2 packets to satisfy an eui64 match and bypass filtering decisions based on Ethernet-source-to-IPv6-source binding, but it does not provide a direct kernel write primitive.
A:H - Invalid eth_hdr() access on packets with no valid MAC header can produce kernel warnings/oopses or KASAN-detected out-of-bounds accesses, and an attacker can repeat packet delivery to sustain denial of service.
AV:L - The vulnerable path is reached through local io_uring syscalls: create a ring, register a fixed buffer, then submit READ_FIXED or WRITE_FIXED. It is not reachable by remote packets or adjacent/physical input.
AC:L - The trigger is deterministic: use len zero with buf_addr exactly at the end of a registered fixed buffer. No race or attacker-uncontrolled heap state is required to reach the out-of-bounds read.
PR:L - An unprivileged local user can use io_uring when the upstream sysctl allows it, and buffer registration only requires ordinary user memory within resource limits. No real root or init-namespace capability is required.
UI:N - After obtaining local execution, the attacker directly invokes io_uring_setup, io_uring_register, and io_uring_enter. No victim action is needed.
S:U - The vulnerability is in the kernel servicing the attacker's local process and does not cross a separate security authority such as a VM host boundary. Standard local kernel compromise or crash remains Scope Unchanged.
C:H - The bug performs an attacker-triggered out-of-bounds read from adjacent kernel slab memory while constructing the fixed-buffer bio_vec iterator. Under conservative kernel scoring, this is treated as high confidentiality impact because kernel heap data is read outside the valid object.
I:N - The demonstrated primitive is an out-of-bounds read of bio_vec metadata, not an out-of-bounds write or use-after-free. I did not find a defensible direct data modification or control-flow overwrite primitive from this zero-length import.
A:H - The reported path produces a KASAN slab-out-of-bounds BUG in io_import_reg_buf, and the same local trigger can be submitted repeatedly. Kernel oops/panic potential is High availability impact."

Two concurrent connect() syscalls on the same
socket can both pass the check and enter sco_connect(), leading
to use-after-free.

The buggy scenario involves three participants and was confirmed
with additional logging instrumentation:

Thread A (connect): HCI disconnect: Thread B (connect):

sco_sock_connect(sk) sco_sock_connect(sk)
sk_state==BT_OPEN sk_state==BT_OPEN
(pass, no lock) (pass, no lock)
sco_connect(sk): sco_connect(sk):
hci_dev_lock hci_dev_lock
hci_connect_sco <- blocked
-> hcon1
sco_conn_add->conn1
lock_sock(sk)
sco_chan_add:
conn1->sk = sk
sk->conn = conn1
sk_state=BT_CONNECT
release_sock
hci_dev_unlock
hci_dev_lock
sco_conn_del:
lock_sock(sk)
sco_chan_del:
sk->conn=NULL
conn1->sk=NULL
sk_state=
BT_CLOSED
SOCK_ZAPPED
release_sock
hci_dev_unlock
(unblocked)
hci_connect_sco
-> hcon2
sco_conn_add
-> conn2
lock_sock(sk)
sco_chan_add:
sk->conn=conn2
sk_state=
BT_CONNECT
// zombie sk!
release_sock
hci_dev_unlock

Thread B revives a BT_CLOSED + SOCK_ZAPPED socket back to
BT_CONNECT. Subsequent cleanup triggers double sock_put() and
use-after-free. Meanwhile conn1 is leaked as it was orphaned
when sco_conn_del() cleared the association.

Fix this by:
- Moving lock_sock() before the sk_state/sk_type checks in
sco_sock_connect() to serialize concurrent connect attempts
- Fixing the sk_type != SOCK_SEQPACKET check to actually
return the error instead of just assigning it
- Adding a state re-check in sco_connect() after lock_sock()
to catch state changes during the window between the locks
- Adding sco_pi(sk)->conn check in sco_chan_add() to prevent
double-attach of a socket to multiple connections
- Adding hci_conn_drop() on sco_chan_add failure to prevent
HCI connection leaks
AV:L - The vulnerable code is reached through the local connect() syscall on an AF_BLUETOOTH/SCO socket. A Bluetooth peer or HCI disconnect can influence timing, but an adjacent attacker alone cannot race two connect() calls on the same local socket.
AC:L - The attacker can create the race by issuing concurrent connect() syscalls on the same socket and repeating attempts while the normal HCI failure/disconnect path runs. Under the higher-severity rule, this attacker-controlled race is Low complexity.
PR:L - SCO socket creation and connect do not impose a capability check, though AF_BLUETOOTH is limited to init_net rather than unprivileged network namespaces. A basic unprivileged local user on the host can open and race BTPROTO_SCO sockets.
UI:N - No victim action is required once the attacker can run local code. The attacker directly invokes socket/connect operations and can repeat the race.
S:U - The bug corrupts kernel Bluetooth socket/connection state within the same kernel security authority. It is a standard local kernel compromise/DoS path, not a VM escape or cross-scope boundary bypass.
C:H - The race leads to a use-after-free/double sock_put on kernel socket objects. Kernel UAFs are defensibly scored as high confidentiality impact because freed objects can be reused for information disclosure primitives.
I:H - The same UAF/double-free condition can be leveraged through heap reuse and spraying to corrupt kernel objects or control flow. Under the required guidance, UAF memory corruption is High integrity impact.
A:H - Even without full exploitation, the double sock_put/use-after-free can crash or destabilize the kernel. Kernel crashes and UAF-triggered oops/panic conditions are High availability impact."
