Vulnerability from variot - Updated: 2023-12-18 14:02Unspecified vulnerability in HP Data Protector Express, and Data Protector Express Single Server Edition (SSE), 3.x before build 56936 and 4.x before build 56906 on Windows allows local users to gain privileges or cause a denial of service via unknown vectors, a different vulnerability than CVE-2010-3007. This vulnerability CVE-2010-3007 Is a different vulnerability.Authority may be obtained by local users. Authentication is not required to exploit this vulnerability.The specific flaw exists within the function PrvRecvRqu() defined in the module dpwinsup. While handling requests sent to TCP port 3817 the process can be forced to dereference a NULL pointer resulting in an unhandled exception that crashes the service. Attackers can leverage this issue to execute arbitrary code and gain elevated privileges or to cause denial-of-service conditions. The vulnerability could be
exploited locally to create a Denial of Service (DoS) or to execute arbitrary code.
