Vulnerability from variot - Updated: 2023-12-18 13:52An issue was discovered in certain Apple products. Safari before 10.1 is affected. The issue involves the "WebKit" component. It allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code or cause a denial of service (memory corruption and application crash) via a crafted web site. User interaction is required to exploit this vulnerability in that the target must visit a malicious page or open a malicious file.The specific flaw exists within the handling of HTMLSlotElement objects. The issue results from the lack of validating the existence of an object prior to performing operations on the object. An attacker can leverage this vulnerability to execute code under the context of the current process. WebKit is prone to a remote code-execution vulnerability. Failed exploit attempts will result in a denial-of-service condition. WebKit is a set of open source web browser engines jointly developed by companies such as KDE, Apple (Apple), and Google (Google), and is currently used by browsers such as Apple Safari and Google Chrome
