Vulnerability from github – Published: 2026-04-18 00:31 – Updated: 2026-05-11 21:31
VLAI
Details

miniupnpd contains an integer underflow vulnerability in SOAPAction header parsing that allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service or information disclosure by sending a malformed SOAPAction header with a single quote. Attackers can trigger an out-of-bounds memory read by exploiting improper length validation in ParseHttpHeaders(), where the parsed length underflows to a large unsigned value when passed to memchr(), causing the process to scan memory far beyond the allocated HTTP request buffer.

GHSA-Q522-2V7V-4RM7

Vulnerability from github – Published: 2025-09-11 18:35 – Updated: 2025-11-25 21:32
VLAI
Details

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:

wifi: ath12k: Correct tid cleanup when tid setup fails

Currently, if any error occurs during ath12k_dp_rx_peer_tid_setup(), the tid value is already incremented, even though the corresponding TID is not actually allocated. Proceed to ath12k_dp_rx_peer_tid_delete() starting from unallocated tid, which might leads to freeing unallocated TID and cause potential crash or out-of-bounds access.

Hence, fix by correctly decrementing tid before cleanup to match only the successfully allocated TIDs.

Also, remove tid-- from failure case of ath12k_dp_rx_peer_frag_setup(), as decrementing the tid before cleanup in loop will take care of this.

Compile tested only.

Details

This vulnerability allows remote attackers to disclose sensitive information on vulnerable installations of Foxit Reader 9.2.0.9297. User interaction is required to exploit this vulnerability in that the target must visit a malicious page or open a malicious file. The specific flaw exists within the handling of the Lower method of a XFA object. The issue results from the lack of proper validation of user-supplied data, which can result in a read past the end of an allocated buffer. An attacker can leverage this vulnerability to execute code in the context of the current process. Was ZDI-CAN-6617.

Details

A vulnerability was found in Open Asset Import Library Assimp 5.4.3 and classified as problematic. This issue affects the function MDCImporter::ValidateSurfaceHeader of the file assimp/code/AssetLib/MDC/MDCLoader.cpp. The manipulation of the argument pcSurface2 leads to out-of-bounds read. Attacking locally is a requirement. The exploit has been disclosed to the public and may be used. The project decided to collect all Fuzzer bugs in a main-issue to address them in the future.

Details

Adobe Acrobat and Reader versions 2018.011.20063 and earlier, 2017.011.30102 and earlier, and 2015.006.30452 and earlier have an out-of-bounds read vulnerability. Successful exploitation could lead to information disclosure.

Mitigation MIT-5
Implementation

Strategy: Input Validation

  • Assume all input is malicious. Use an "accept known good" input validation strategy, i.e., use a list of acceptable inputs that strictly conform to specifications. Reject any input that does not strictly conform to specifications, or transform it into something that does.
  • When performing input validation, consider all potentially relevant properties, including length, type of input, the full range of acceptable values, missing or extra inputs, syntax, consistency across related fields, and conformance to business rules. As an example of business rule logic, "boat" may be syntactically valid because it only contains alphanumeric characters, but it is not valid if the input is only expected to contain colors such as "red" or "blue."
  • Do not rely exclusively on looking for malicious or malformed inputs. This is likely to miss at least one undesirable input, especially if the code's environment changes. This can give attackers enough room to bypass the intended validation. However, denylists can be useful for detecting potential attacks or determining which inputs are so malformed that they should be rejected outright.
  • To reduce the likelihood of introducing an out-of-bounds read, ensure that you validate and ensure correct calculations for any length argument, buffer size calculation, or offset. Be especially careful of relying on a sentinel (i.e. special character such as NUL) in untrusted inputs.
Mitigation
Architecture and Design

Strategy: Language Selection

Use a language that provides appropriate memory abstractions.

CAPEC-540: Overread Buffers

An adversary attacks a target by providing input that causes an application to read beyond the boundary of a defined buffer. This typically occurs when a value influencing where to start or stop reading is set to reflect positions outside of the valid memory location of the buffer. This type of attack may result in exposure of sensitive information, a system crash, or arbitrary code execution.
