Title
Libevent: Heap out-of-bounds write in bufferevent_socket_set_conn_address_ reachable via AF_UNIX accept
Summary
Libevent is an event notification library. Prior to 2.1.13 and 2.2.2-alpha, libevent has a heap out-of-bounds write in bufferevent_sock.c when bufferevent_socket_set_conn_address_ copies a kernel-supplied AF_UNIX peer address into bufferevent_private.conn_address. Release builds compiled with NDEBUG disable the EVUTIL_ASSERT length guard, and the evhttp accept path can pass a 110-byte sockaddr from accept() into the 28-byte field. An unauthenticated local peer able to connect to an AF_UNIX listener can overwrite the adjacent dns_request pointer and heap data, causing memory corruption with confidentiality, integrity, and availability impact. This issue is fixed in versions 2.1.13 and 2.2.2-alpha.

Title
Reachable Assertion in Elasticsearch Leading to Denial of Service
Summary
Reachable Assertion (CWE-617) in Elasticsearch can lead to denial of service via Input Data Manipulation (CAPEC-153). A specially crafted search request containing a null value in a specific query clause causes an internal assertion to be raised during query parsing. Because Elasticsearch treats assertion failures as fatal errors, this terminates the affected node process. A low-privileged authenticated user with read access to at least one index can exploit this condition with a single request to cause a node to terminate, disrupting search availability. In a single-node deployment this fully stops Elasticsearch; in a multi-node cluster it reduces cluster capacity for each affected node.

Title
libheif: Reachable assertion in HeifContext::get_track() aborts on a valid-but-empty HEIF sequence file (context.cc:2110)
Summary
libheif is a HEIF and AVIF file format decoder and encoder. In 1.23.0 and earlier, a crafted HEIF sequence accepted by heif_context_read_from_memory() can leave the context with no registered sequence tracks and crash when heif_context_get_track(ctx, 0) is called. HeifContext::get_track() in libheif/context.cc executes assert(has_sequence()) before its normal error handling, so assert-enabled builds abort instead of allowing the public wrapper in libheif/api/libheif/heif_sequences.cc to return null. In release builds, removing the assertion lets the track_id zero path dereference m_tracks.begin()->second on an empty map, which is undefined behavior and typically crashes. The issue is reachable through documented public APIs after parsing attacker-controlled bytes. This issue is fixed in version 1.23.1.

Title
libheif: Integer underflow in Fraction constructor via double clap transform application
Summary
libheif is a HEIF and AVIF file format decoder and encoder. In 1.23.0 and earlier, a crafted HEIF or AVIF file containing a clean aperture box can reduce an image dimension to zero and crash or corrupt tiling results when heif_image_handle_get_image_tiling(handle, 1, &tiling) is called. ImageItem::get_heif_image_tiling() returns already transformed dimensions, and process_image_transformations_on_tiling() applies the clean aperture transformation again. The second application passes zero to Box_clap::left_rounded(0), where image_width minus one underflows and constructs Fraction(0xFFFFFFFF, 2). Debug builds reach an assertion and abort, while release builds can return a corrupt crop and zero-width tiling result. The affected implementation spans libheif/image-items/image_item.cc, libheif/context.cc, and libheif/box.cc. This issue is fixed in version 1.23.1.

In 1.23.0 and earlier, a crafted HEIF or AVIF file containing a clean aperture box can reduce an image dimension to zero and crash or corrupt tiling results when heif_image_handle_get_image_tiling(handle, 1, \u0026tiling) is called. ImageItem::get_heif_image_tiling() returns already transformed dimensions, and process_image_transformations_on_tiling() applies the clean aperture transformation again. The second application passes zero to Box_clap::left_rounded(0), where image_width minus one underflows and constructs Fraction(0xFFFFFFFF, 2). Debug builds reach an assertion and abort, while release builds can return a corrupt crop and zero-width tiling result. The affected implementation spans libheif/image-items/image_item.cc, libheif/context.cc, and libheif/box.cc. This issue is fixed in version 1.23.1."

Title
OpenBao: Transit secrets engine crashes on key creation with `derived: true` for asymmetric key types
Summary
OpenBao is an open source identity-based secrets management system. Prior to 2.5.5, an authenticated OpenBao caller with write access to transit/keys/* could terminate the server process by setting derived to true while the type parameter selected rsa-, ecdsa-, or ed25519. The Transit policy creation path in builtin/logical/transit/backend.go and sdk/helper/keysutil/policy.go could reach an error path that double-unlocked a mutex while handling this invalid asymmetric derived-key combination, causing a panic, no HTTP response, process exit, and denial of service. JSON and HCL key-creation requests can express the triggering combination. This issue is fixed in version 2.5.5.

Title
vLLM denial of service via prompt embeds on M-RoPE models
Summary
vLLM is a library for LLM inference and serving. From 0.12.0 to before 0.24.0, sending a pure prompt embeds payload in a /v1/completions request with a model using M-RoPE causes EngineCore to fail an assertion and fatally crash, shutting down the entire server application. Any remote user who is authorized to make a /v1/completions request can make such a request and induce a crash. This issue is fixed in version 0.24.0.

Title
OpenEXR: Unhandled assert abort in HTJ2K decoder via crafted QCD marker (DoS)
Summary
OpenEXR is the reference implementation and specification for the EXR image format, widely used in the motion picture industry. In versions 3.4.0 through 3.4.12, a crafted HTJ2K-compressed EXR file causes an unconditional process abort in any application that calls exr_start_read() on untrusted input, resulting in denial of service. The crash is triggered by a QCD marker whose lower five bits are zero, which OpenEXR passes into the vendored OpenJPH library while constructing the codestream and evaluating its quantization delta parameters. OpenJPH uses an assertion rather than a recoverable error to validate those bits, so any invalid value calls abort() directly and cannot be intercepted by surrounding error handling, a problem compounded by OpenEXR wrapping only its internal HT header parser in error handling while leaving the later codestream read and construction calls unprotected. This issue has been resolved in version 3.4.13.

"value": "OpenEXR is the reference implementation and specification for the EXR image format, widely used in the motion picture industry. This issue has been resolved in version 3.4.13."

Title
ZEBRA: IPv4-Mapped Mempool Misbehavior Update Aborts Zebra Address Book
Summary
ZEBRA is a Zcash node written entirely in Rust. Prior to 4.5.0, an unauthenticated IPv4 peer can deterministically terminate a synced Zebra node using the default Linux dual-stack listener configuration. The handshake path canonicalized an IPv4-mapped IPv6 PeerSocketAddr such as ::ffff:127.0.0.1 to plain IPv4 before storing it through MetaAddr::new_connected, but the mempool misbehavior path forwarded the raw transient address to MetaAddrChange::UpdateMisbehavior. In zebra-network/src/meta_addr.rs, apply_to_meta_addr then compared the canonical address-book entry with the raw update address and reached its unexpected address mismatch assertion. After the misbehavior batch flush, panic equals abort terminated zebrad; the peer only needed to complete a P2P handshake and advertise an invalid mempool transaction. This issue is fixed in version 4.5.0.
