Title
OpenMage LTS's Phar Deserialization leads to Remote Code Execution
Summary
Magento Long Term Support (LTS) is an unofficial, community-driven project provides an alternative to the Magento Community Edition e-commerce platform with a high level of backward compatibility. Prior to version 20.17.0, PHP functions such as `getimagesize()`, `file_exists()`, and `is_readable()` can trigger deserialization when processing `phar://` stream wrapper paths. OpenMage LTS uses these functions with potentially controllable file paths during image validation and media handling. An attacker who can upload a malicious phar file (disguised as an image) and trigger one of these functions with a `phar://` path can achieve arbitrary code execution. Version 20.17.0 patches the issue.

Seagull Software BarTender Unauthenticated RCE via .NET Remoting Service
Summary
Seagull Software BarTender 2010, 2016, and 2019 contain an unauthenticated remote code execution vulnerability in the .NET Remoting service exposed on TCP port 7375 via BtSystem.Service.exe. The service registers an unauthenticated singleton endpoint — BarTenderSystem for BarTender 2016 <= R9, and DataServiceSingleton for BarTender 2019 <= R10 — configured with BinaryServerFormatterSinkProvider and TypeFilterLevel set to Full. An unauthenticated remote attacker can exploit .NET Remoting object unmarshalling to read or write arbitrary files on the server using the .NET WebClient class, or coerce NTLMv2 authentication by supplying a UNC path to an attacker-controlled server, enabling sensitive credential disclosure, remote code execution, or lateral movement depending on service account privileges and network environment. The service runs in the context of NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM.

Summary
Seagull Software BarTender 2021 R1 through 12.0.1 contains an insecure deserialization vulnerability that allows low-privileged local users to escalate privileges. The DataServiceSingleton .NET Remoting endpoint is bound to localhost on TCP port 7375 via BtSystem.Service.exe, limiting the attack surface to local access only. The endpoint is configured with BinaryServerFormatterSinkProvider and TypeFilterLevel set to Full. A low-privileged local attacker can send YSoSerial.NET-generated BinaryFormatter payloads to the localhost-bound endpoint to achieve code execution as NT AUTHORITY\\SYSTEM.

EPyT-Flow has unsafe JSON deserialization (__type__)
Summary
EPyT-Flow is a Python package designed for the easy generation of hydraulic and water quality scenario data of water distribution networks. Prior to 0.16.1, EPyT-Flow’s REST API parses attacker-controlled JSON request bodies using a custom deserializer (my_load_from_json) that supports a type field. When type is present, the deserializer dynamically imports an attacker-specified module/class and instantiates it with attacker-supplied arguments. This allows invoking dangerous classes such as subprocess.Popen, which can lead to OS command execution during JSON parsing. This also affects the loading of JSON files. This vulnerability is fixed in 0.16.1.

Apache Camel LevelDB: Deserialization of Untrusted Data in Camel LevelDB
Summary
Deserialization of Untrusted Data vulnerability in Apache Camel LevelDB component. The Camel-LevelDB DefaultLevelDBSerializer class deserializes data read from the LevelDB aggregation repository using java.io.ObjectInputStream without applying any ObjectInputFilter or class-loading restrictions. An attacker who can write to the LevelDB database files used by a Camel application can inject a crafted serialized Java object that, when deserialized during normal aggregation repository operations, results in arbitrary code execution in the context of the application. This issue affects Apache Camel: from 4.10.0 before 4.10.8, from 4.14.0 before 4.14.5, from 4.15.0 before 4.18.0. Users are recommended to upgrade to version 4.18.0, which fixes the issue. For the 4.10.x LTS releases, users are recommended to upgrade to 4.10.9, while for 4.14.x LTS releases, users are recommended to upgrade to 4.14.5

Title
Wazuh Cluster vulnerable to Remote Code Execution via Insecure Deserialization
Summary
Wazuh is a free and open source platform used for threat prevention, detection, and response. Versions 4.0.0 through 4.14.2 have a Remote Code Execution (RCE) vulnerability due to Deserialization of Untrusted Data). All Wazuh deployments using cluster mode (master/worker architecture) and any organization with a compromised worker node (e.g., through initial access, insider threat, or supply chain attack) are impacted. An attacker who gains access to a worker node (through any means) can achieve full RCE on the master node with root privileges. Version 4.14.3 fixes the issue.

  • If available, use the signing/sealing features of the programming language to assure that deserialized data has not been tainted. For example, a hash-based message authentication code (HMAC) could be used to ensure that data has not been modified.

  • Make fields transient to protect them from deserialization.
  • An attempt to serialize and then deserialize a class containing transient fields will result in NULLs where the transient data should be. This is an excellent way to prevent time, environment-based, or sensitive variables from being carried over and used improperly.

  • Avoid having unnecessary types or gadgets (a sequence of instances and method invocations that can self-execute during the deserialization process, often found in libraries) available that can be leveraged for malicious ends. An adversary attempts to exploit an application by injecting additional, malicious content during its processing of serialized objects. Developers leverage serialization in order to convert data or state into a static, binary format for saving to disk or transferring over a network. These objects are then deserialized when needed to recover the data/state. By injecting a malformed object into a vulnerable application, an adversary can potentially compromise the application by manipulating the deserialization process. This can result in a number of unwanted outcomes, including remote code execution.
