CWE-636
Not Failing Securely ('Failing Open')
When the product encounters an error condition or failure, its design requires it to fall back to a state that is less secure than other options that are available, such as selecting the weakest encryption algorithm or using the most permissive access control restrictions.

Title
free5gc UDR improper path validation allows unauthenticated access to Traffic Influence Subscriptions
Summary
free5GC is an open-source implementation of the 5G core network. In versions 4.2.1 and below of the UDR service, the handler for reading Traffic Influence Subscriptions checks whether the influenceId path segment equals subs-to-notify, but does not return after sending the HTTP 404 response when validation fails. Execution continues and the subscription data is returned alongside the 404 response. An unauthenticated attacker with access to the 5G Service Based Interface can read arbitrary Traffic Influence Subscriptions, including SUPIs/IMSIs, DNNs, S-NSSAIs, and callback URIs, by supplying any value for the influenceId path segment. A patched version was not available at the time of publication.

free5gc UDR improper path validation allows unauthenticated creation and modification of Traffic Influence Subscriptions
Summary
free5GC is an open-source implementation of the 5G core network. In versions 4.2.1 and below of the UDR service, the handler for creating or updating Traffic Influence Subscriptions checks whether the influenceId path segment equals subs-to-notify, but does not return after sending the HTTP 404 response when validation fails. Execution continues and the subscription is created or overwritten regardless. An unauthenticated attacker with access to the 5G Service Based Interface can create or overwrite arbitrary Traffic Influence Subscriptions, including injecting attacker-controlled notificationUri values and arbitrary SUPIs, by supplying any value for the influenceId path segment. Title
free5gc UDR fail-open request handling in PolicyDataSubsToNotifySubsIdPut may allow unintended subscription updates after input errors
Summary
free5GC is an open-source implementation of the 5G core network. In versions 4.2.1 and below of the UDR service, the PUT handler for updating Policy Data notification subscriptions at /nudr-dr/v2/policy-data/subs-to-notify/{subsId} does not return after request body retrieval or deserialization errors. Although HTTP 500 or 400 error responses are sent, execution continues and the processor is invoked with a potentially uninitialized or partially initialized PolicyDataSubscription object. This fail-open behavior may allow unintended modification of existing Policy Data notification subscriptions with invalid or empty input, depending on downstream processor and storage behavior. A patched version was not available at the time of publication.

Title
OpenViking < 0.3.9 Authentication Bypass via VikingBot OpenAPI
Summary
OpenViking prior to version 0.3.9 contains an authentication bypass vulnerability in the VikingBot OpenAPI HTTP route surface where the authentication check fails open when the api_key configuration value is unset or empty. Remote attackers with network access to the exposed service can invoke privileged bot-control functionality without providing a valid X-API-Key header, including submitting attacker-controlled prompts, creating or using bot sessions, and accessing downstream tools, integrations, secrets, or data accessible to the bot.

Title
net-imap vulnerable to STARTTLS stripping via invalid response timing
Summary
Net::IMAP implements Internet Message Access Protocol (IMAP) client functionality in Ruby. Prior to versions 0.3.10, 0.4.24, 0.5.14, and 0.6.4, a man-in-the-middle attacker can cause Net::IMAP#starttls to return "successfully", without starting TLS. This issue has been patched in versions 0.3.10, 0.4.24, 0.5.14, and 0.6.4.

Title
OpenClaw < 2026.4.8 - strictInlineEval Approval Boundary Bypass via Approval-Timeout Fallback
Summary
OpenClaw before 2026.4.8 contains an approval-timeout fallback mechanism that bypasses strictInlineEval explicit-approval requirements on gateway and node exec hosts. Attackers can exploit this timeout fallback to execute inline eval commands that should require explicit user approval, circumventing the intended security boundary.

Title
MCP Registry: OCI ownership validation fails open on upstream rate limits, allowing attacker-controlled package claims
Summary
The MCP Registry provides MCP clients with a list of MCP servers, like an app store for MCP servers. Prior to 1.7.9, OCI ownership validation skips label-match check when upstream OCI registry returns HTTP 429, letting any authenticated publisher bind their io.github.<user>/* namespace to OCI images they do not control. internal/validators/registries/oci.go:104-119 fails open on http.StatusTooManyRequests: when the registry's anonymous fetch to the upstream OCI registry is rate-limited, ValidateOCI returns nil and the publish is accepted without ever running the io.modelcontextprotocol.server.name label-match check at lines 122-141. That label check is the only cross-system ownership proof the registry applies to OCI packages — every other registry type (NPM, PyPI, NuGet, MCPB) treats a non-200 upstream response as a hard error. This vulnerability is fixed in 1.7.9.

Title
Indian Scout Bobber 2025 Infotainment Digital Round skips PIN entry when WCM is silent at boot
Summary
Incorrect behavior order in the Infotainment / Digital Round display of the Indian Motorcycle Scout Bobber + Tech 2025 model year allows an adjacent-network attacker to bypass the PIN entry screen. The Infotainment uses presence of Wireless Control Module (WCM) traffic during its boot window as a proxy for whether an immobilizer is fitted; if no WCM messages are observed, it skips the PIN entry screen and shows the normal user interface. An attacker who silences the WCM during the boot window — for example via a separately tracked CAN bus-off technique — can present a fully unlocked Infotainment despite the PIN never being entered. Specific timing and protocol details have been withheld pending vendor remediation.
