Summary
Cisco Firepower Management Center Software Cross-Site Scripting and Open Redirect Vulnerabilities

Notes

Summary
Multiple vulnerabilities in the web-based management interface of Cisco Firepower Management Center (FMC) Software could allow an attacker to execute a cross-site scripting (XSS) attack or an open redirect attack. For more information about these vulnerabilities, see the Details ["#details"] section of this advisory. Cisco has released software updates that address these vulnerabilities. There are no workarounds that address these vulnerabilities. This advisory is part of the October 2021 release of the Cisco ASA, FTD, and FMC Security Advisory Bundled publication. For a complete list of the advisories and links to them, see Cisco Event Response: October 2021 Cisco ASA, FMC, and FTD Software Security Advisory Bundled Publication ["https://sec.cloudapps.cisco.com/security/center/viewErp.x?alertId=ERP-74773"].
Vulnerable Products
At the time of publication, these vulnerabilities affected Cisco FMC Software. For information about which Cisco software releases were vulnerable at the time of publication, see the Fixed Software ["#fs"] section of this advisory. See the Details section in the bug ID(s) at the top of this advisory for the most complete and current information.
Products Confirmed Not Vulnerable
Only products listed in the Vulnerable Products ["#vp"] section of this advisory are known to be affected by these vulnerabilities. Cisco has confirmed that these vulnerabilities do not affect Cisco Adaptive Security Appliance (ASA) Software or Cisco Firepower Threat Defense (FTD) Software.
Details
These vulnerabilities are not dependent on one another. Exploitation of one of the vulnerabilities is not required to exploit the other vulnerability. In addition, a software release that is affected by one of the vulnerabilities may not be affected by the other vulnerability. Details about the vulnerabilities are as follows: CVE-2021-34763: Cisco FMC Software Cross-Site Scripting Vulnerability A vulnerability in the web-based management interface of Cisco FMC Software could allow an authenticated, remote attacker to conduct a XSS attack against a user of the interface. This vulnerability is due to insufficient validation of user-supplied input by the web-based management interface. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability by persuading a user of the interface to click a crafted link. A successful exploit could allow the attacker to execute arbitrary script code in the context of the interface or access sensitive, browser-based information. Cisco has released software updates that address this vulnerability. There are no workarounds that address this vulnerability. Bug ID(s): CSCvx55664 ["https://bst.cloudapps.cisco.com/bugsearch/bug/CSCvx55664"] CVE ID: CVE-2021-34763 Security Impact Rating (SIR): Medium CVSS Base Score: 4.8 CVSS Vector: CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:H/UI:R/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:N CVE-2021-34764: Cisco FMC Software Open Redirect Vulnerability A vulnerability in the web interface of Cisco FMC Software could allow an unauthenticated, remote attacker to redirect a user to a malicious web page. This vulnerability is due to improper input validation of HTTP request parameters. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability by intercepting and modifying an HTTP request from a user. A successful exploit could allow the attacker to redirect the user to a specific malicious web page. Cisco has released software updates that address this vulnerability. There are no workarounds that address this vulnerability. Bug ID(s): CSCvx32283 ["https://bst.cloudapps.cisco.com/bugsearch/bug/CSCvx32283"] CVE ID: CVE-2021-34764 Security Impact Rating (SIR): Medium CVSS Base Score: 4.7 CVSS Vector: CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:C/C:N/I:L/A:N
Workarounds
There are no workarounds that address these vulnerabilities.
Fixed Software
When considering software upgrades ["https://sec.cloudapps.cisco.com/security/center/resources/security_vulnerability_policy.html#fixes"], customers are advised to regularly consult the advisories for Cisco products, which are available from the Cisco Security Advisories page ["https://www.cisco.com/go/psirt"], to determine exposure and a complete upgrade solution. In all cases, customers should ensure that the devices to be upgraded contain sufficient memory and confirm that current hardware and software configurations will continue to be supported properly by the new release. If the information is not clear, customers are advised to contact the Cisco Technical Assistance Center (TAC) or their contracted maintenance providers. Fixed Releases At the time of publication, the release information in the following table(s) was accurate. See the Details section in the bug ID(s) at the top of this advisory for the most complete and current information. The left column lists Cisco software releases, and the right column indicates whether a release was affected by the vulnerabilities described in this advisory and which release included the fix for these vulnerabilities. Cisco FMC Software Cisco FMC Software Release First Fixed Release for These Vulnerabilities 6.2.2 and earlier1 Migrate to a fixed release. 6.2.3 Migrate to a fixed release. 6.3.01 Migrate to a fixed release. 6.4.0 6.4.0.13 (Nov 2021) 6.5.01 Migrate to a fixed release. 6.6.0 6.6.5 6.7.0 6.7.0.3 (Jan 2022) 7.0.0 Not vulnerable. 1. Cisco FMC and FTD Software releases 6.2.2 and earlier, as well as releases 6.3.0 and 6.5.0, have reached end of software maintenance ["https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/products/eos-eol-listing.html"]. Customers are advised to migrate to a supported release that includes the fix for these vulnerabilities. The Cisco Product Security Incident Response Team (PSIRT) validates only the affected and fixed release information that is documented in this advisory.
Vulnerability Policy
To learn about Cisco security vulnerability disclosure policies and publications, see the Security Vulnerability Policy ["https://sec.cloudapps.cisco.com/security/center/resources/security_vulnerability_policy.html"]. This document also contains instructions for obtaining fixed software and receiving security vulnerability information from Cisco.
Exploitation and Public Announcements
The Cisco PSIRT is not aware of any public announcements or malicious use of the vulnerability that is described in this advisory.
