Summary
Red Hat Security Advisory: Red Hat JBoss Enterprise Application Platform 7.4.22 security update
Severity
Important
Notes
Topic: An update is now available for Red Hat JBoss Enterprise Application Platform 7.4. Red Hat Product Security has rated this update as having a security impact of Important. A Common Vulnerability scoring System (CVSS) base score, which gives a detailed severity rating, is available for each vulnerability from the CVE link(s) in the References section.
Details: Red Hat JBoss Enterprise Application Platform 7 is a platform for Java applications based on the WildFly application runtime. This release of Red Hat JBoss Enterprise Application Platform 7.4.22 serves as a replacement for Red Hat JBoss Enterprise Application Platform 7.4.21, and includes bug fixes and enhancements. See the Red Hat JBoss Enterprise Application Platform 7.4.22 Release Notes for information about the most significant bug fixes and enhancements included in this release. Security Fix(es): * io.netty/netty-handler: SslHandler doesn't correctly validate packets which can lead to native crash when using native SSLEngine (CVE-2025-24970) * io.netty/netty: Denial of Service attack on windows app using Netty (CVE-2024-47535) * netty-common: Denial of Service attack on windows app using Netty (CVE-2025-25193) * org.wildfly.core/wildfly-server: Wildfly improper RBAC permission (CVE-2025-23367) For more details about the security issue(s), including the impact, a CVSS score, acknowledgements, and other related information, refer to the CVE page(s) listed in the References section.

A flaw was found in Netty. An unsafe reading of the environment file could potentially cause a denial of service. When loaded on a Windows application, Netty attempts to load a file that does not exist. If an attacker creates a large file, the Netty application crashes.

CWE-400 - Uncontrolled Resource Consumption
Vendor Fix Before applying the update, make sure all previously released errata relevant to your system have been applied. Also, back up your existing installation, including all applications, configuration files, databases and database settings. For details on how to apply this update, refer to: https://access.redhat.com/articles/11258 https://access.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2025:4552

A flaw was found in Netty's SslHandler. This vulnerability allows a native crash via a specially crafted packet that bypasses proper validation.

CWE-20 - Improper Input Validation
Vendor Fix Before applying the update, make sure all previously released errata relevant to your system have been applied. Also, back up your existing installation, including all applications, configuration files, databases and database settings. For details on how to apply this update, refer to: https://access.redhat.com/articles/11258 https://access.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2025:4552
Workaround Mitigation for this issue is either not available or the currently available options do not meet the Red Hat Product Security criteria comprising ease of use and deployment, applicability to widespread installation base or stability.
