Severity
Important
Notes
Topic: Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform release 4.22.11 is now available with updates to packages and images that fix several bugs and add enhancements. This release includes a security update for Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform 4.22. Red Hat Product Security has rated this update as having a security impact of Important. A Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS) base score, which gives a detailed severity rating, is available for each vulnerability from the CVE link(s) in the References section.
Details: Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform is Red Hat's cloud computing Kubernetes application platform solution designed for on-premise or private cloud deployments. This advisory contains the container images for Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform 4.22.11. See the following advisory for the RPM packages for this release: https://access.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2026:57361 Space precludes documenting all of the container images in this advisory. See the following Release Notes documentation, which will be updated shortly for this release, for details about these changes: https://docs.redhat.com/en/documentation/openshift_container_platform/4.22/html/release_notes/ Security Fix(es): * bind: bind9: Potential memory usage beyond configured limits (CVE-2026-11622) * bind: bind9: Cache poisoning via label count discrepancy, RRSIG, wildcards (CVE-2026-11721) * bind: bind9: Unexpected exit with NSEC and NSEC3 both present (CVE-2026-13204) * bind: bind9: DNSSEC Validation Bypass via Out-of-Zone NSEC Next Field (CVE-2026-13321) * kernel: net: openvswitch: reject oversized nested action attrs (CVE-2026-64531) For more details about the security issue(s), including the impact, a CVSS score, acknowledgments, and other related information, refer to the CVE page(s) listed in the References section. All OpenShift Container Platform 4.22 users are advised to upgrade to these updated packages and images when they are available in the appropriate release channel. To check for available updates, use the OpenShift CLI (oc) or web console. Instructions for upgrading a cluster are available at https://docs.redhat.com/en/documentation/openshift_container_platform/4.22/html-single/updating_clusters/index#updating-cluster-cli.

A DNSSEC validating resolver that is under a random subdomain attack against a DNSSEC-signed zone can suffer from runaway memory usage. The attacker needs to be able to send queries faster than the resolver can perform validation. The increased memory usage can be orders of magnitude beyond the limit configured in the max-cache-size parameter

Threats
Impact Important

It is possible for an attacker's zone to respond to a query with an RRSIG that has a smaller number of labels than the zone in which the RRSIG is contained. This causes named to produce a wildcard name for a zone that is shorter than the attacker's zone, which can result in cache poisoning. For this attack to have any effect, the resolver under attack must have set synth-from-dnssec yes; (which is the default).

If a provably insecure domain is covered by both an NSEC and NSEC3 record at the parent, and there exist an RRSIG for only one of these types, then BIND may exit unexpectedly with an assertion while validating this proof.

Impact Important

A flaw was found in Open vSwitch in the Linux kernel. Improper handling of oversized nested action attributes can lead to a truncated length field, which could be exploited by a local attacker to alter kernel memory. This alteration might result in the disclosure of sensitive information or a local privilege escalation (LPE).

This content was generated utilizing AI tools in conjunction with data from cmetaxonomy.org. Customers are advised to independently evaluate and test these temporary mitigations within their own infrastructure.\n\nIf OVS is not required on a given system, unloading the openvswitch module (`modprobe -r openvswitch`) eliminates the attack surface entirely. For systems that require OVS but cannot patch immediately, the single most effective mitigation is disabling unprivileged user namespaces (`sysctluser.max_user_namespaces=0`), which blocks the primary path an unprivileged attacker uses to obtain CAP_NET_ADMIN and reach the vulnerable netlink interface. Standard kernel hardening (KASLR, SMEP, SMAP, kptr_restrict) is enabled by default on supported RHEL kernels and significantly increases exploitation complexity, but these controls are defense-in-depth and not a substitute for patching or removing the vulnerable module.",
