Hierbei handelt es sich um eine extern kontrollierte Format-String-Schwachstelle in der FortiOS-Befehlszeilenschnittstelle. Ein lokaler Angreifer mit Super-Admin-Profil und CLI-Zugriff kann diese Schwachstelle ausnutzen, um beliebigen Code oder Befehle über speziell gestaltete Anfragen auszuführen.
