Title
Wagtail: Improper restriction handling on Pages admin API
Summary
Wagtail is an open source content management system built on Django. Prior to versions 7.0.9, 7.3.4, 7.4.3, and 8.0rc2 on their respective release lines, the internal Pages admin API returns page fields declared in api_fields without sufficient access control, allowing a user with Wagtail admin access to retrieve restricted draft and live page content. This issue is fixed in versions 7.0.9, 7.3.4, 7.4.3, and 8.0rc2.

Title
Wagtail: Improper permission handling in image preview
Summary
Wagtail is an open source content management system built on Django. In versions prior to 7.0.8, 7.3.3 and 7.4.2, due to a missing permission check on the image preview endpoint, a user with access to the Wagtail admin can preview any image. The existing data of the image object itself is not exposed. The vulnerability is not exploitable by an ordinary site visitor without access to the Wagtail admin. This issue has been fixed in versions 7.0.8, 7.3.3, and 7.4.2.

Summary
Wagtail is an open source content management system built on Django. In versions prior to 7.0.8, 7.3.3 and 7.4.2, the Documents and Images chooser's chosen endpoint incorrectly listed items for which the user has not been granted choose permission. A user with access to the Wagtail admin could see the filename and name and URLs of documents and images in those collections. The vulnerability is not exploitable by an ordinary site visitor without access to the Wagtail admin. This issue has been fixed in versions 7.0.8, 7.3.3, and 7.4.2.

VLAI
Title
GPU DDK - rgxfw_set_mips_fault_address(&psInit->sFaultPhysAddr) is untrusted
Summary
Kernel software installed and running inside a Host VM may post improper commands to the GPU Firmware to trigger a memory read or write outside the permitted range of memory for the host kernel. Addresses passed to the GPU Firmware can be used by the Firmware for more privileged memory accesses than are permitted by the system.

Mitigation MIT-46
Architecture and Design

Strategy: Separation of Privilege

  • Compartmentalize the system to have "safe" areas where trust boundaries can be unambiguously drawn. Do not allow sensitive data to go outside of the trust boundary and always be careful when interfacing with a compartment outside of the safe area.
  • Ensure that appropriate compartmentalization is built into the system design, and the compartmentalization allows for and reinforces privilege separation functionality. Architects and designers should rely on the principle of least privilege to decide the appropriate time to use privileges and the time to drop privileges.
Mitigation
Implementation

Always check to see if you have successfully accessed a resource or system functionality, and use proper error handling if it is unsuccessful. Do this even when you are operating in a highly privileged mode, because errors or environmental conditions might still cause a failure. For example, environments with highly granular permissions/privilege models, such as Windows or Linux capabilities, can cause unexpected failures.

No CAPEC attack patterns related to this CWE.
