In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: net/sched: flower: Fix chain template offload The Linux kernel CVE team has assigned CVE-2024-26669 to this issue. Upstream advisory: https://lore.kernel.org/linux-cve-announce/2024040237-CVE-2024-26669-ca3c@gregkh/T
A use-after-free flaw was found in drivers/gpu/drm/i915/i915_vma.c in the Linux kernel that may lead to a crash.
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: wifi: mac80211: fix potential sta-link leak When a station is allocated, links are added but not set to valid yet (e.g. during connection to an AP MLD), we might remove the station without ever marking links valid, and leak them. Fix that.
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: irqchip/gic-v3-its: Prevent double free on error The Linux kernel CVE team has assigned CVE-2024-35847 to this issue. Upstream advisory: https://lore.kernel.org/linux-cve-announce/2024051738-CVE-2024-35847-7e4b@gregkh/T
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: block: fix overflow in blk_ioctl_discard() There is no check for overflow of 'start + len' in blk_ioctl_discard(). Hung task occurs if submit an discard ioctl with the following param: start = 0x80000000000ff000, len = 0x8000000000fff000; Add the overflow validation now.
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: netfilter: nf_tables: prefer nft_chain_validate nft_chain_validate already performs loop detection because a cycle will result in a call stack overflow (ctx->level >= NFT_JUMP_STACK_SIZE). It also follows maps via ->validate callback in nft_lookup, so there appears no reason to iterate the maps again. nf_tables_check_loops() and all its helper functions can be removed. This improves ruleset load time significantly, from 23s down to 12s. This also fixes a crash bug. Old loop detection code can result in unbounded recursion: BUG: TASK stack guard page was hit at .... Oops: stack guard page: 0000 [#1] PREEMPT SMP KASAN CPU: 4 PID: 1539 Comm: nft Not tainted 6.10.0-rc5+ #1 [..] with a suitable ruleset during validation of register stores. I can't see any actual reason to attempt to check for this from nft_validate_register_store(), at this point the transaction is still in progress, so we don't have a full picture of the rule graph. For nf-next it might make sense to either remove it or make this depend on table->validate_state in case we could catch an error earlier (for improved error reporting to userspace).
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: bpf: fix OOB devmap writes when deleting elements Jordy reported issue against XSKMAP which also applies to DEVMAP - the index used for accessing map entry, due to being a signed integer, causes the OOB writes. Fix is simple as changing the type from int to u32, however, when compared to XSKMAP case, one more thing needs to be addressed. When map is released from system via dev_map_free(), we iterate through all of the entries and an iterator variable is also an int, which implies OOB accesses. Again, change it to be u32. A vulnerability was found in the Linux kernel's vmxnet3 network driver in the `vmxnet3_xdp_xmit_frame()` function. An incorrect DMA address calculation caused by the use of a fixed (rather than dynamic) offset leads to a corrupt packet being sent out and subsequently dropped on the path. This can lead to system instability and a denial of service caused by persistent packet loss.
A vulnerability was found in the Linux kernel's IPv6 Neighbor Discovery (NDISC) subsystem, which manages network neighbor information. The issue arises from improper synchronization mechanisms when allocating socket buffers (sk_buff) in the ndisc_alloc_skb() function. Specifically, the function can be called without holding the necessary Read-Copy-Update (RCU) or Routing Netlink (RTNL) locks, leading to a potential use-after-free (UAF) condition. This flaw allows an attacker with local access and low privileges to exploit the race condition, potentially causing system instability or crashes.
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: sched/rt: Fix race in push_rt_task Overview ======== When a CPU chooses to call push_rt_task and picks a task to push to another CPU's runqueue then it will call find_lock_lowest_rq method which would take a double lock on both CPUs' runqueues. If one of the locks aren't readily available, it may lead to dropping the current runqueue lock and reacquiring both the locks at once. During this window it is possible that the task is already migrated and is running on some other CPU. These cases are already handled. However, if the task is migrated and has already been executed and another CPU is now trying to wake it up (ttwu) such that it is queued again on the runqeue (on_rq is 1) and also if the task was run by the same CPU, then the current checks will pass even though the task was migrated out and is no longer in the pushable tasks list. Crashes ======= This bug resulted in quite a few flavors of crashes triggering kernel panics with various crash signatures such as assert failures, page faults, null pointer dereferences, and queue corruption errors all coming from scheduler itself.
