Title
cti-transmute Conversion History Authorization Bypass Leads to Sensitive Data Disclosure After Conversion Deletion
Summary
In affected versions of MISP cti-transmute, the conversion-history details endpoint performs an incomplete authorization check. When a history record references a deleted conversion, the associated conversion lookup returns None. The previous logic only denied access when the conversion object existed and the visibility check failed. As a result, deleted conversions bypassed the authorization check and their retained history input/output could be disclosed to a user able to request the corresponding history entry. The July 22, 2026 commit changes the logic to deny access whenever the conversion is missing or the requester lacks permission

Title
cti-transmute Following List Exposes User Email Addresses to Authenticated Users
Summary
Affected versions of MISP cti-transmute disclose users' email addresses through the account following-list endpoint. When an authenticated user follows another account, get_following() includes the followed user's email field in the API response alongside their name, user ID, and follow date. Because the email address is not required for the functionality and other related user lists omit it, an authenticated attacker could systematically follow users and collect their email addresses. The fix removes user.email from the returned object.

Title
Unauthenticated Stored Vue Template Injection Leads to Cross-Site Scripting in CTI-Transmute
Summary
CTI-Transmute contains a stored cross-site scripting vulnerability caused by insufficient neutralization of Vue template expression delimiters in server-rendered user-controlled data. An unauthenticated attacker can create a public conversion whose name or description contains a malicious Vue expression using the application's configured [[ ... ]] delimiters. User profile names may provide an additional injection vector. Although Jinja HTML escaping is applied, the resulting value is subsequently included in a DOM region compiled by Vue. Vue interprets the attacker-controlled value as a template expression rather than ordinary text. By accessing the JavaScript Function constructor from within the expression, an attacker can execute arbitrary JavaScript in the security context of the CTI-Transmute origin. The application's nonce-based Content Security Policy does not prevent exploitation because the Vue runtime compiler requires the unsafe-eval policy exception. The malicious payload is stored by the application and executed whenever another user opens an affected page, such as the public conversion detail page. The victim may be a normal user or an administrator. Successful exploitation could allow the attacker to: * Access data available to the victim through the application. * Extract API keys, tokens, or other sensitive information exposed to the page. * Perform authenticated actions using the victim's session. * Modify conversions or other application data. * Escalate the impact by targeting an administrator. A demonstrated payload can use [].constructor.constructor(...) to obtain the JavaScript Function constructor and execute arbitrary code. The regression tests also show that a short first-stage payload could retrieve an uncapped conversion description and evaluate a larger second-stage payload. The patch addresses the vulnerability by registering a global Jinja finalize hook that inserts a zero-width Unicode word joiner inside every Vue delimiter found in server-rendered values. This prevents Vue from recognizing the values as template expressions while preserving their visible representation.

Title
Server-Side Request Forgery and Local File Disclosure in CTI-Transmute Evaluation PDF Rendering
Summary
CTI-Transmute is affected by a server-side request forgery vulnerability in the evaluation report PDF-generation functionality. User-controlled CTI content, including conversion names, descriptions, and comments, is converted from Markdown to HTML and rendered as a PDF using WeasyPrint. Before the patch, the renderer used WeasyPrint’s default URL-fetching behavior without restricting the protocols or destinations that could be referenced by the generated HTML. An attacker able to supply content included in an evaluation report could inject crafted resource references using schemes such as http://, https://, or file://. When the report was rendered, CTI-Transmute could fetch these resources using the application server’s network connectivity and filesystem privileges. Successful exploitation could allow an attacker to: * access services available only from the CTI-Transmute server or its internal network; * probe internal hosts and service endpoints; * retrieve local files readable by the application process; and * expose fetched content through the generated PDF, depending on the referenced resource type and rendering context. The vulnerability is corrected by providing WeasyPrint with a restrictive URL fetcher that permits only self-contained data: URIs. The externally hosted Google Fonts stylesheet was also removed so that PDF generation performs no intentional network or filesystem fetches.

Title
Unauthenticated Denial of Service via Unbounded Activity-Timeline Range in CTI-Transmute
Summary
CTI-Transmute contains an uncontrolled resource-consumption vulnerability in the unauthenticated /activity_timeline endpoint. The endpoint accepts a user-controlled days query parameter that was not restricted to a reasonable range. A remote, unauthenticated attacker could submit an excessively large value for this parameter, causing the application to retrieve and process activity data over an arbitrarily large period. This could consume excessive database, CPU, or memory resources, delay the processing of concurrent requests, or trigger an internal server error. Repeated requests could further degrade the availability of the CTI-Transmute website. The vulnerability is corrected by clamping the requested timeline range to a minimum of one day and a maximum of 1,095 days.

Title
Cross-Site Request Forgery in the Administrative User Deletion Endpoint
Summary
CTI-Transmute contained a cross-site request forgery vulnerability in the administrative user deletion functionality. The /account/delete/<id> endpoint accepted HTTP GET requests for an operation that modified application state. An unauthenticated remote attacker could construct a malicious link or embed a request targeting this endpoint and induce an authenticated CTI-Transmute administrator to visit the attacker-controlled content. If the administrator had an active session, the browser would automatically include the administrator’s session credentials, causing the selected user account to be deleted without the administrator intentionally confirming the operation. Successful exploitation requires interaction from a currently authenticated administrator who has permission to delete users. The attacker does not need a CTI-Transmute account or administrative privileges because the forged request executes using the victim administrator’s session. The vulnerability could allow an attacker to delete arbitrary user accounts, resulting in unauthorized modification of application state and denial of access for affected users. Depending on whether administrators can delete other administrators or the final administrative account, exploitation could also disrupt administration of the CTI-Transmute instance. The patch resolves the issue by restricting the deletion endpoint to HTTP POST requests and submitting the deletion through a form containing a CSRF token.

Title
Stored Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) in CTI Transmute Notification Panel via Malicious Convert Names
Summary
A stored cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability exists in the notification panel of CTI Transmute in versions prior to the patched release. Notification messages containing user-controlled convert names were rendered in the notification bell dropdown using innerHTML without adequate sanitization. An attacker able to create or influence a convert name that is included in a notification could inject arbitrary JavaScript, which would execute in the browser of an authenticated user when they opened the notification panel. Successful exploitation could allow the attacker to perform actions in the victim's session or access information available to the application in the browser context. The issue was remediated by constructing notification elements through DOM methods and assigning notification message content via textContent instead of innerHTML. This vulnerability was only present on a development branch.
