A flaw was found in the Linux kernel on ARM processors. A race condition in Translation Lookaside Buffer Invalidation (TLBI) operations during memory permission changes allows a local attacker to write to memory resources owned by higher privilege levels. This could allow an unprivileged local attacker to gain kernel privileges or a guest VM to escape to the hypervisor, resulting in complete system compromise.

A flaw was found in the Kernel-based Virtual Machine (KVM) for x86. This vulnerability occurs when KVM incorrectly re-checks Level 1 (L1) intercepts during the completion of userspace I/O emulation for a Level 2 (L2) instruction. If the L1 or host userspace modifies I/O interception settings during this process, KVM may misinterpret already-emulated I/O as intercepted. This can lead to a kernel warning and potentially disrupt the guest virtual machine, resulting in a denial of service. Exploitation requires local access to /dev/kvm and the ability to perform nested virtualization or manipulate I/O bitmaps.

A flaw was found in Samba’s handling of NTFS-style reparse points on shares configured with read only = yes. Due to missing SMB-layer access checks, authenticated users with underlying filesystem write permissions may create or delete reparse point metadata through SMB operations even on read-only exports. This could allow modification of SMB-visible file behavior, including converting files into symbolic links or other reparse point types.

A flaw was found in Samba’s vfs_worm module. The module is intended to provide write-once, read-many (WORM) protections by preventing modification of files after a configurable grace period. Due to insufficient validation during rename operations, an authenticated user with write access to a share could overwrite a protected file by renaming a newly created file over the existing WORM-protected file.

A flaw was found in Samba’s certificate auto-enrollment Group Policy handling. When certificate auto-enrollment is enabled, Samba may retrieve a CA certificate over an unencrypted HTTP connection and install it into the local trust store without proper verification. An attacker with the ability to intercept or redirect network traffic could exploit this behavior to supply a malicious certificate authority certificate, potentially allowing interception or spoofing of trusted communications.

A flaw was found in Samba. A remote attacker can exploit a misconfiguration in Samba file servers and classic domain controllers that use the "check password script" feature. If this script is configured with the %u substitution character, the client-controlled username is passed without proper escaping of shell meta-characters. This vulnerability allows an attacker to achieve remote command execution on the affected system. This issue primarily affects non-standard configurations where the "check password script" is used with %u and the samba-dcerpcd service is started as a system service.

A flaw was found in SSSD's LDAP sudo provider. When the ldap_sudo_search_base option is not explicitly configured, SSSD searches the entire LDAP directory tree for sudoRole objects. An authenticated attacker with write access to any subtree can inject a sudoRole object granting root-level sudo privileges on all SSSD-enrolled hosts.

A path traversal flaw was found in SSSD's AD GPO provider. The ad_gpo_extract_smb_components() function does not sanitize .. sequences in the gPCFileSysPath LDAP attribute, allowing an attacker with AD GPO management access to write files outside the GPO cache directory as root. On default RHEL configurations with SELinux enforcing, this can be used to inject Kerberos configuration leading to authentication bypass.

A heap buffer overflow vulnerability exists in the DTLS handshake fragment reassembly logic of GnuTLS. The issue arises in merge_handshake_packet() where incoming handshake fragments are matched and merged based solely on handshake type, without validating that the message_length field remains consistent across all fragments of the same logical message. An attacker can exploit this by sending crafted DTLS fragments with conflicting message_length values, causing the implementation to allocate a buffer based on a smaller initial fragment and subsequently write beyond its bounds using larger, inconsistent fragments. Because the merge operation does not enforce proper bounds checking against the allocated buffer size, this results in an out-of-bounds write on the heap. The vulnerability is remotely exploitable without authentication via the DTLS handshake path and can lead to application crashes or potential memory corruption.

A flaw was found in Vim, an open-source command-line text editor. This command injection vulnerability occurs during tag file processing. A local user could craft a malicious tags file containing backtick syntax in the filename field. When Vim resolves a tag from this file, it executes the embedded command via the system shell, leading to arbitrary code execution with the privileges of the running user.

A flaw was found in gnutls. A remote attacker could exploit an issue in the Datagram Transport Layer Security (DTLS) packet reordering logic. The comparator function, responsible for ordering DTLS packets by sequence numbers, did not correctly handle packets with duplicate sequence numbers. This could lead to unstable packet ordering or undefined behavior, resulting in a denial of service.

A flaw was found in the Netfilter flowtable component of the Linux kernel. This vulnerability occurs because the system does not strictly check the maximum number of hardware offload actions for IPv6, allowing it to process more actions than supported. This could potentially lead to system instability or a denial of service (DoS) condition, where the affected system becomes unresponsive.

"text": "A flaw was found in the Kernel-based Virtual Machine (KVM) for x86. "details": "This vulnerability can be mitigated by disabling nested virtualization. Create a file in `/etc/modprobe.d/` with a descriptive name, such as `cve-2026-53359-mitigation.conf`. In that file, disable nested virtualization for the `kvm_intel` and `kvm_amd` kernel modules:\n```\noptions kvm-intel nested=0\noptions kvm-amd nested=0\n```\n\nUse `lsmod` to determine if either module is already loaded. If so, remove loaded modules with `modprobe -r`. To validate that nested virtualization is disabled, read the files `/sys/module/kvm_intel/parameters/nested` and `/sys/module/kvm_amd/parameters/nested`. If these modules are loaded, those files should read `N` to indicate that the feature is disabled.\n\nIn OpenShift 4, a MachineConfig can be utilized to create a modprobe configuration allowing control of the module on applicable nodes. See the following article for an example.\n\nhttps://access.redhat.com/solutions/6979679",

"text": "This vulnerability is rated Important severity by Red Hat Product Security, because authenticated users with filesystem-level write permissions may bypass Samba\u2019s SMB-layer read-only protections for reparse point operations.\n\nThe flaw affects shares configured with \"read only = yes\", where Samba failed to properly enforce access checks when setting or deleting reparse point metadata. An attacker with existing write permissions on the underlying filesystem may manipulate SMB reparse point metadata to alter how files are presented to SMB clients, including converting files into symbolic links.\n\nThe vulnerability does not bypass underlying filesystem access controls or grant additional operating system privileges. However, successful exploitation may significantly disrupt file access for users of the affected share, including making large portions of a shared filesystem unavailable through widespread reparse point modification. Because the attack requires authenticated access and existing filesystem write permissions, Privileges Required are assessed as Low (PR:L).\n\n```\n\nThis vulnerability affects Samba versions beginning with the introduction of NTFS-style reparse point support in Samba 4.21.\n\n```",

The vulnerable code path is only reachable when Samba Group Policy processing is explicitly enabled using the ```apply group policies = yes``` configuration option and certificate auto-enrollment is configured through Group Policy.\n\nHence, although the vulnerable code is present, it is not exploitable in default RHEL configurations. \n\nIn addition, the attacker must have the ability to intercept or redirect adjacent-network HTTP traffic during certificate retrieval. Because exploitation depends on explicit administrative configuration changes and adjacent-network positioning, Red Hat assesses the attack complexity as High (AC:H).",

The vulnerability can be triggered by an unauthenticated attacker sending crafted DTLS handshake fragments, requiring no prior access or interaction. It leads to an out-of-bounds read caused by an integer underflow in fragment reassembly, operating entirely on attacker-controlled input. Such flaws in low-level protocol parsing are particularly serious, as they may result in disclosure of sensitive process memory, including cryptographic or session-related data, and can also cause reliable application crashes leading to denial of service. Given that DTLS is commonly used in network-facing services such as VPNs and real-time communication systems, the exposure surface is broad. The combination of unauthenticated remote exploitation, memory safety violation, and potential confidentiality and availability impact justifies classifying this issue as high severity rather than moderate.",

"text": "A heap buffer overflow vulnerability exists in the DTLS handshake fragment reassembly logic of GnuTLS. The vulnerability is remotely exploitable without authentication via the DTLS handshake path and can lead to application crashes or potential memory corruption.",

"text": "This vulnerability should be classified as an important flaw rather than moderate because it exposes a pre-authentication, remotely reachable heap buffer overflow in the DTLS handshake processing path, which is part of the core protocol handling logic and commonly exposed in network-facing services. The flaw enables an attacker to inject controlled data at attacker-chosen offsets and sizes beyond allocated heap boundaries by exploiting inconsistent message_length handling across fragments, effectively creating a constrained but meaningful heap write primitive. Unlike benign memory safety bugs, this condition is deterministically triggerable with a small number of crafted packets and no environmental dependencies for denial-of-service, and it targets a long-lived parsing state where memory corruption can affect adjacent heap structures. Even if reliable code execution requires additional heap manipulation or layout knowledge, the combination of remote reachability, lack of authentication, controlled memory corruption capability, and trivial crashability significantly elevates the risk profile beyond moderate severity. In real-world deployments, such primitives are often sufficient to enable heap grooming and exploitation chains, particularly in services that repeatedly process attacker-controlled input, making this a materially important security flaw.",

"text": "There\u0027s a flaw in `zip.vim` plugin in Vim, allowing a local attacker to overwrite arbitrary files. A user must be tricked into opening a specially crafted zip archive for exploitation, potentially compromising data integrity or the system. When successfully exploited this vulnerability enables the attacker to overwrite arbitrary files or inject code in sensitive system\u0027s location, the impact of the exploitation depends on the privileges which the `vim` process is being executed. Sensitive or privileges files are only susceptible to be overwritten only if the `vim` process is being executed by a high privileged user.\n\nRed Hat Product Security team has rated this vulnerability as having a impact of MODERATE, this decision was made by the fact the user needs to be tricked to open a maliciously crafted file in order to a successful attack to be performed. Additionally the impact will be limited to files which the user running the `vim` process has write permissions.",
