A cache poisoning flaw was found in Unbound. Resolvers supporting EDNS Client Subnet (ECS) must segregate outgoing queries to accommodate different outgoing ECS information. This issue reopens resolvers to a birthday paradox attack, known as the Rebirthday Attack, which attempts to match the DNS transaction ID with cache non-ECS poisoned replies.
A memory corruption flaw was found in SQLite. Under specific conditions a query can be generated where the number of aggregate terms could exceed the number of columns available. This issue could lead to memory corruption and subsequent unintended behavior.
A flaw was found in the OpenSSL CMS implementation (RFC 3211 KEK Unwrap). This vulnerability allows memory corruption, an application level denial of service, or potential execution of attacker-supplied code via crafted CMS messages using password-based encryption (PWRI).
There's a vulnerability in podman where an attacker may use the kube play command to overwrite host files when the kube file container a Secrete or a ConfigMap volume mount and such volume contains a symbolic link to a host file path. In a successful attack, the attacker can only control the target file to be overwritten but not the content to be written into the file. Binary-Affected: podman Upstream-version-introduced: v4.0.0 Upstream-version-fixed: v5.6.1
A flaw was found in libxml2. This vulnerability allows a stack-based buffer overflow via DTD validation of an untrusted document or untrusted DTD.
A use-after-free vulnerability was found in libxml2. This issue occurs when parsing XPath elements under certain circumstances when the XML schematron has the <sch:name path="..."/> schema elements. This flaw allows a malicious actor to craft a malicious XML document used as input for libxml, resulting in the program's crash using libxml or other possible undefined behaviors.
A vulnerability was found in libxml2. Processing certain sch:name elements from the input XML file can trigger a memory corruption issue. This flaw allows an attacker to craft a malicious XML input file that can lead libxml to crash, resulting in a denial of service or other possible undefined behavior due to sensitive data being corrupted in memory.
A flaw was found in Samba’s vfs_worm module. The module is intended to provide write-once, read-many (WORM) protections by preventing modification of files after a configurable grace period. Due to insufficient validation during rename operations, an authenticated user with write access to a share could overwrite a protected file by renaming a newly created file over the existing WORM-protected file.
A flaw was found in Samba’s certificate auto-enrollment Group Policy handling. When certificate auto-enrollment is enabled, Samba may retrieve a CA certificate over an unencrypted HTTP connection and install it into the local trust store without proper verification. An attacker with the ability to intercept or redirect network traffic could exploit this behavior to supply a malicious certificate authority certificate, potentially allowing interception or spoofing of trusted communications.
A flaw was found in gnutls. This vulnerability occurs because gnutls performs case-sensitive comparisons of `nameConstraints` labels, specifically for `dNSName` (DNS) or `rfc822Name` (email) constraints within `excludedSubtrees` or `permittedSubtrees`. A remote attacker can exploit this by crafting a leaf certificate with casing differences in the Subject Alternative Name (SAN), leading to a policy bypass where a certificate that should be rejected is instead accepted. This could result in unauthorized access or information disclosure.
A flaw was found in dracut. A remote attacker on the adjacent network can exploit this vulnerability by providing specially crafted DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) options, such as a malicious hostname, to a system using dracut's legacy DHCP path. These options are improperly handled and written into temporary shell scripts without proper escaping, leading to command injection. This allows the attacker to achieve root code execution within the initramfs, potentially compromising the system's boot and network behavior.
A double free issue has been identified in libarchive's RAR5 reader. During parsing of a specially crafted RAR5 archive, the filtered_buf pointer may remain stale after being freed during unpacking state reinitialization. Subsequent processing of another archive entry can trigger a second free of the same memory region, resulting in a double-free condition. Successful exploitation may cause applications using the vulnerable libarchive API to terminate unexpectedly, leading to a denial of service.
A flaw was found in dracut. The die() error-handling function writes its message into a shell script under the initramfs emergency-hook directory without properly shell-quoting it. When the message contains data derived from the DHCP ROOT_PATH option, an attacker on the adjacent network who controls a rogue DHCP server can inject a command-substitution sequence that executes as root the next time dracut sources its emergency hook scripts during standard boot-failure handling.
A flaw was found in systemd, a system and service manager. An unprivileged user can exploit this vulnerability by making an Inter-Process Communication (IPC) API call with spurious data. In older versions (v249 and earlier), this can lead to stack overwriting with attacker-controlled content, potentially enabling arbitrary code execution or privilege escalation. In newer versions (v250 and later), the flaw causes systemd to assert and freeze, resulting in a Denial of Service (DoS).
A flaw was found in gnutls. Servers configured with RSA-PSK (Rivest–Shamir–Adleman – Pre-Shared Key) wrongfully matched usernames containing a NUL character with truncated usernames. A remote attacker could exploit this by sending a specially crafted username, leading to an authentication bypass. This vulnerability allows an attacker to gain unauthorized access by circumventing the authentication process.
A flaw was found in the Linux kernel's CIFS (Common Internet File System) client. When the `cifs_sanitize_prepath` function processes specially crafted input, such as an empty string or a string containing only delimiters, it can attempt to read data beyond its allocated memory buffer. This out-of-bounds read can lead to a system crash, resulting in a denial of service.

"text": "This vulnerability is considered Important rather than Moderate because it directly compromises the integrity of DNS caching mechanisms in resolvers supporting EDNS Client Subnet (ECS). The flaw allows an attacker to exploit the birthday paradox by generating a high volume of concurrent queries with different ECS values, thereby increasing the chance of a transaction ID collision with a spoofed response. If the resolver fails to properly segregate cache entries by ECS scope, it may accept and cache a malicious non-ECS response, effectively leading to DNS cache poisoning. Unlike typical poisoning attempts that require precise timing or privileged network positions, this attack can be carried out remotely with a high success rate, especially in resolvers that do not correctly isolate ECS queries.",

Due to improper handling of rename operations, a user with existing write permissions could overwrite files that should have become immutable under the WORM policy.\n\nThe vulnerability does not bypass underlying filesystem access controls or grant additional privileges beyond those already assigned to the authenticated user. The vulnerable code path is only reachable when Samba Group Policy processing is explicitly enabled using the ```apply group policies = yes``` configuration option and certificate auto-enrollment is configured through Group Policy.\n\nHence, although the vulnerable code is present, it is not exploitable in default RHEL configurations. \n\nIn addition, the attacker must have the ability to intercept or redirect adjacent-network HTTP traffic during certificate retrieval. "text": "A flaw was found in gnutls. This could result in unauthorized access or information disclosure.",

"text": "This issue is particularly important because it affects the correct enforcement of X.509 nameConstraints, which are specifically designed to limit the authority of subordinate CAs. In GnuTLS, the use of case-sensitive comparisons (memcmp) for dNSName and the domain portion of rfc822Name violates the case-insensitive matching requirements defined in RFC 5280 and RFC 4343. As a result, a constrained subordinate CA can bypass excludedSubtrees or permittedSubtrees restrictions simply by changing the letter casing of a domain in the SAN (e.g., ExAmPlE.CoM vs example.com). Since nameConstraints are often the only mechanism enforcing domain boundaries in delegated PKI hierarchies, this flaw effectively allows a malicious or compromised sub-CA to issue certificates for domains that should be cryptographically prohibited, enabling unauthorized certificate validation and potential TLS impersonation of restricted services.",

"text": "Red Hat Product Security has assessed this CVE as 7.5 CVSS with Moderate security Impact. This assessment reflects the library\u0027s typical deployment within enterprise software, where libarchive is frequently embedded into automated, network-accessible services that receive and process archives originating from remote sources. In these environments, a specially crafted RAR5 archive may be delivered and processed automatically without requiring direct user interaction, allowing a remote attacker to trigger the vulnerability and cause the affected application or service processing the archive to terminate unexpectedly, resulting in a denial of service.\n\nFrom a standalone library perspective, however, the vulnerable code is only reached when an application opens and processes a crafted RAR5 archive. Evaluating libarchive in isolation, without considering downstream deployment models, the vulnerability more closely aligns with a CVSS score of 5.5-CVSS:3.1/AV:L/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H (Moderate), reflecting an Attack Vector of Local (AV:L) and User Interaction Required (UI:R). This is because the crafted archive must first be delivered to and processed by a local application before the vulnerable parsing logic is executed. \n\nRed Hat\u0027s assigned score instead reflects the operational deployment of libarchive in automated, network-facing workloads in downstream environment models rather than the standalone library in isolation.\n\n```\n\nThis vulnerability only affects libarchive releases that include support for the RAR5 archive format. RAR5 support was first introduced upstream in libarchive 3.4.0 (https://github.com/libarchive/libarchive/wiki/ReleaseNotes#libarchive-340). Earlier libarchive releases do not contain the vulnerable RAR5 parsing code and are therefore not affected.\n\nRed Hat Enterprise Linux 6, 7, and 8 ship Libarchive versions prior to v3.4.0 that do not include RAR5 support and are therefore not affected.\n\n```",

"text": "Red Hat Product Security rates this flaw\u0027s impact as Important. Exploitation requires an attacker-controlled or spoofed DHCP server on the same network segment as a system performing network boot (root=dhcp/netroot=dhcp), and for the DHCP-supplied ROOT_PATH value to fail dracut\u0027s netroot handler resolution -- both fully within an adjacent-network attacker\u0027s control. Reaching the point where the poisoned hook script is actually sourced depends on dracut\u0027s boot-failure handling reinvoking the emergency shell mechanism, which occurs by default when the netroot handler cannot be resolved. This is a separate code path from CVE-2026-6893, which patched modules.d/35network-legacy/dhclient-script.sh but did not modify dracut-lib.sh\u0027s die() function. Systems that do not perform network/PXE boot, or that do not rely on DHCP-supplied ROOT_PATH values, are not exposed to this issue.",
